Raised edge between plasterboards - how much is a problem?

Thanks. No, it's the same thickness plasterboard. I didn't do it myself but the person who did said he struggled with the joists not being level. (I'm not surprised, nothing in this house is square or level.) I know he was using packers so I guess this is the best the could do.

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

This is their guidance so I know the tiles aren't recommended for the shower area. I'm just wondered if using them is a complete no-no or whether grouting would help mitigate it. As I said, the polished shower tray looks like more dangerous than the tiles!

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

They don’t have an R rating. I haven’t bought them yet but the supplier says they use their own rating -M24- which is medium to high slippage. This from online

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

Would appreciate some advice please. I have a small en suite and initially planned to put in a shower tray but decided a wetroom would look and work better. Unfortunately the floor tiles I would like to have aren't antislip. (They have a matt finish and they feel much 'grippier' than others...

Raised edge between plasterboards - how much is a problem?

Hello What’s the maximum workable uneveness between plasterboard edges when skimming? I’m wondering how big a problem this one is going to be. And how can you fix it? It’s square edge plasterboard. Do I need to measure it? Thanks

Narrow top access panel for wall mounted taps?

Hello, I initially post this in Plumbing, but perhaps this is a better place for it. Wondering if I can get an idea as to the minimum space necessary to access my bath wall mounted taps from above in the event of needing to change them in the future. Where the bath is going I plan to build a...

Narrow top access panel for wall mounted taps?

Wondering if I can get an idea as to the minimum space necessary to access my bath wall mounted taps from above in the event of needing to change them in the future. Where the bath is going I plan to build a timber frame out from the wall, approx 1m high and so create a top shelf. The bath...

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

It was in the context of the comment about it not being compliant because of the exposed cable/cable entry. It will go in a small ensuite and the left side of the cabinet could be within 60cm of an extended shower head (but not when in its cradle). Wouldn't that make it Zone 2?

Ah ok, that'll be less of a job then (y)

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

The electrics are in the top part of the cabinet - can see the screws so probably accessible. I only have retailer photos right now. I didn't see this before I bought it! It's got a cable entry grommet Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I need to prove it really isn't IP44, in which...

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

Hello Have just taken delivery of an IP44 rated bathroom cabinet with LED/demister. The back is completely flat, no void, and as you can see from the spec diagram, the cable comes out of the top. The electrician is going to run a power cable to the area but I'm scratching my head as to how...

Geberit vs Villeroy & Boch - 80mm concealed cisterns

They're all much of a muchness when it comes to price. I prefer the VB faceplate but I don't know how long they've been doing cisterns - I've always thought of them as front of house rather than behind the scenes. The pan will be a floorstanding non branded one but if the logo on the flush...

Geberit vs Villeroy & Boch - 80mm concealed cisterns

Thanks opps. I hadn't come across the Grohe one but I have now. (y) If they're all much of a muchness I guess it'll come down to the faceplate, but your spare washer story puts Geberit in pole position. Hope the bean counters haven't since decided to cut costs.

Geberit vs Villeroy & Boch - 80mm concealed cisterns

Hello Just wondering if anyone has any experience of fitting or having an 80mm slimline concealed toilet cistern for a floor standing back-to-wall toilet. I know the risks of concealed cisterns so I'm trying to fit a decent one and I've whittled it down to Geberit Sigma 80 or Villeroy & Boch...

backerboard and extra noggings/taped joints vs tanked plasterboard

Thanks simplesteve. I've just been tallying up. The cost of the tape is as much as the board so I'm inclined to do your way. I could go with moisture resistant plasterboard but I'd also like to insulate the external walls. The PIR board had a foil surface - is there a way to stick p/b to it...

backerboard and extra noggings/taped joints vs tanked plasterboard

I'm renovating a bathroom and have ground to a halt on the way forward. Two walls are stud walls with noggings for normal size plasterboard, two are external cavity walls with a plaster scratch coat. I had in mind to use waterproof backerboard on the areas that would have direct contact with...

How to prep this surface for matt emulsion?

Thanks Wayners. Yes, the data sheet says all that - prepare by priming bare surfaces with their primer or sanding down gloss surfaces. Then seal with a 5/10% first coat. It'll be Johnstone's Perfect Matt. So you say put on a coat of Gardz then 3 coats of the undiluted Perfect Matt...

How to prep this surface for matt emulsion?

Hello, Hope you can advise me here. Having started flicking a bit of loose paint off a plastered wall, I ended up peeling the lot off, The paint came off one wall in its entirety and is down to the bare plaster. It’s just the one colour and I assume when it was first done they hadn’t done...

    Moisture proof or ordinary plasterboard

Thanks. This is just the bathroom ceiling. I’ve figured out what to do in wet and tiled areas. From what I’ve read the green board is now ‘best practice’ in damp areas. I know it can be left exposed and it will resist moisture. What I don’t get is whether a skim and coat of paint on...

    Moisture proof or ordinary plasterboard

Help please! I had anticipated using the green moisture proof plasterboard on the ceilings and areas in the bathroom that won’t have direct contact with water. It’ll be part tiled and part painted. My plasterer is telling me it’s a waste of money and that all it needs is a skim coat and...
