    Log cabin/shed/summerhouse

Morning. I'm just after some advice please on the following job. I'm looking to build a glorified shed to house my hot tub in. I have created the deck which is raised off the floor slightly and I plan to use some 25mm polystyrene floor insulation to help keep the cold out from rising through the...

    Cooker hood extraction.

Hi, I'm installing a cooker hood in an extension at my house and it needs mechanical extraction, am i ok to run solid 100mm ducting above the ceiling clipped to the joist and then core drill outside and put a vent on? Or does it need to be a bigger sized duct? The joists are 8"x 2". Thanks

    Soil Pipe

Evening, I've attached a picture of what has been left following the groundworks, can I swap the t piece for a 90 degree bend as I don't need a vertical outlet going up the wall anymore? Or can i just blank that unused outlet off at low level and drill a 32mm hole into that t piece and connect...

    En suite layout

Evening I'm just after some opinions on how you would lay this en suite out (see drawing) As it stands on the drawing now the basin and the wc are on a wall that is to be dot and dabbed, the wall to the right of the door is to be dot and dabbed and the rest are stud walls, would it be better to...

    110v 32amp leads on a 2.5mm flex

What are peoples thoughts on these leads, my workplace have just pulled them out of service stating that the maximum current a 2.5 flex will pull is 25amp, these leads are 25m in length.

    DNO PILC cable

Hi just an update, they won't joint inside , and they wont manoeuvre the cable to position I'd like, the cutout has to be on an external wall inside or outside so I will be having a recessed white box on an external wall somewhere with the smart meter and a metal clad isolator inside then a SWA...

    DNO PILC cable

My understanding was that A they won't manoeuvre the cable to make a loop in order to relocate the cutout and B they won't do a joint in the house, therefore the joint would need to be outside so that's where the suspended floor comes in as that would be my most direct route to get back to the...

    DNO PILC cable

If they can joint inside it's to move 3 meters and you are looking at 650 quid inc vat, if its too joint outside then about 800 as it's further to run the new length of cable, i guess the survey is too make sure everything goes smooth on the day and there is no nasty surprises and also to check...

    DNO PILC cable

I've had a quote from NPG via a utility company to do the works , waiting for a survey next week...the cable is just laid there exposed and it's so tempting to carefuly manoeuvre it round into the new position but the consequences if it goes pop are making me have my sensible head on!!!!

    DNO PILC cable

Afternoon I need to move my electrical supply and my understanding is that the joint has to be made outside, 1 picture is of the existing supply and where I'd like it moved too and the other picture is a suspended timber floor which I'm wondering if they'll be ok to run the cable under there

    Is this gas?

Hi The gas is in the understairs cupboard and the supply into the gas meter comes in from the road and then bends 90 degrees up into the isolation valve so it appears that this is a seperate pipe, I've unscrewed the cap off the top and there is no smell or sound of gas coming out so it would...

    Is this gas?

Morning I'm knocking through the wall with the Mains cable on and the distribution board so I've opened up a pit for them to joint and move the suppy, the other issue is the pipe sticking up which will need to go as well, so 2 questions is it gas and what is involved in removing it. Thanks

    Party Wall

When I say cladding my mistake I meant a facia board around the top to match what is on the front and then the roof felt to tuck over, then it was a question of rendering it, blocking it flush with the pillars to give the wall more protection from the elements amd then rendering, I realise I...
