Anyone have any pointers for getting a trowel to wear in quickly without going on cement work etc. The pre "worn-in" trowels on sale don't give the same finish as your old trusty do they! I was going to leave it in water for a few days to roughen it up a bit. Any helpers would be appreciated.

From an Ames Tapers opinion this sounds to me like the classic ames taping botched job. The tapered edge joints have not been properly filled with joint filler (fast set), they are then top coated with finish 1 or 2 coats if your lucky that shrinks back after a few weeks of the heating being on...

I'm going to dash my walls over existing worn out dashing and wondered if I can use a 8mm coat of krend dash receiver without base coat. Can I just remove old pebbledashing with a shovel, seal with a bonding agent then apply dash receiver and dash. Any advice appreciated.
