Telephone cable...old colours from Master box

Having fully refurbished a property from a shell, I am now left with the task of connecting the phone line. There is a box on the wall just beneath the gutter with a wire coming into it from the telegraph pole. I'm assuming this to be the "Master Box". There is a cable coming from it , going...

    Door opening in or out

Having opened up an 11" brick wall and made good for the door frame, I'm left with this predicament.....nothing serious but, I'd origionally planned on having the door open into the new bathroom. It was to open against the wall onto which was mounted the radiator which meant that it would not...

    Routing gas pipe

The clips shown in the link above maintain structural integrity of the joist. It is tapered and fits neatly into the notch cut into the joist, preventing any compression movement under load. The joists I need to cross are only 6". This what they are for. They have the added bonus of protecting...

    Damp in neighbours empty property

This isn't about confrontation....I wanted to dampproof her wall only with her in agreement, of course I'm not intending to do anything off my own bat....it was all about mutual agreement. The property has been empty for at least 5 years. the gutter pours down the wall in line with the adjoining...

    Damp in neighbours empty property

We recently bought a property with a view to renovating and letting.....knowing that it required a fair bit af work. The house next door is empty, and has been for a number of years. I recently completed a damp proofing course but suspect that on the ajoining wall there is damp that is coming...

    Building Control

It gets worse....... I did ring to find out why he hadn't arrived....was told he was running late and he would ring me back to rearrange. That was lunchtime Thursday. By lunchtime friday when he still hadnt rang I rang back and was put through to the building inspector who said that he was sorry...

    Building Control

Not so satisfied now.....sat outside the property for 3 and a half hours yesterday waiting for the BC guy to show.......he didn't. Went home and rang them up and was simply told that he was running a bit late..........................MY ARSE!!!

    Building Control

I agree......I've had loads of invaluable advice from some of the guys on here...... I thinks the reason I was happy at paying 58 quid it that it was a lot cheaper than I was expecting. Also I was expecting that there would be a load of interferance from BC once they got to know I was doing some...

    Building Control

Was worried about involving BC with a job in hand....though it would cost an arm and a leg. Not too bad at all.... £58 for their advice on a job costing less than £1000 :-). Charges increase sa the cost of the job increases, but ......58 quid....thats cool

    Moving bathroom upstairs

Hi Richard....thanks for that. What do you mean by "another habitable room (not your room)"? How does the current soil pipe arrangement work with the loo flushing straight into the underground pipe to the manhole. There are no other wastes involved as they are discharged through an 1"/1/2 pipe...
