Can I extend a 4mm radial circuit using 2.5mm T+E to make it into a ring circuit.

Sorry....found the answers in previous posts......should have looked first shouldn't I

Why would you want to?

A 4mm radial circuit is rated to 32amps, and can cover an area of 75m/sq

A 2.5mm ring circuit is rated to 32amps, and can cover an area of 100m/sq

You will achieve nothing really.

If you really want to create a ring, you should complete the ring with 4mm. You may find if you actualy did the calcs, that for the full 32amps (depending on install methods), a 2.5mm ring could be too small! 4mm may be required anyway! (Thanks to the 17th edition and the huge increase in thermal insulation).

How much floor area does this circuit cover? What sort of loading is present? Why do you want to do this?

Also, what are the current installation conditions of the 4mm2 twin and earth cable.
