Thats ok then thanks. I was just making sure there nothing I've missed. Like the cu I picked up for the house wasn't a high integrity board. I made the stupid mistake of picking up the wrong cu as they were all on the same shelf. Also t the time I wasn't aware what the heck high integrity was...

    consumer unit for garage

yeah you use a fully insulated one but it can crack when tighten up the gland. I was taught to use a metal enclosure so I thought I'll stick with it. I know there is a special nuts to get around this but nah. Keep it to what I used before. :D

outdoor junction box for security lights possible

Hi i want to know if there is a junction box I can use for the security lights. It's easier since I don't need to drill another hole for the second security light. just need to feed both of them from the junction box . The gland that I saw said it's for 6mm cable. Mega overkill for such a...

installing cables through joist where 50mm not possible

sorry just had a look in my onsite guide but am still confused. Does the span of th joist mean the entire length of joist? The socket in question is in the top front room. So is it the length between the exterior wall at the front of the property to the dividing wall ( one that divides the front...

how to fit a 2d bulkhead to ceiling

Hi I brought a 2d bulkhead fitting for a bathroom. Am a little bit confused as to how to screw it onto the ceiling. It has no screw holes unlike a ceiling rose. Do I just make my own? Wouldn't that derate it's ip rating?

installing cables through joist where 50mm not possible

well that video was conclusive. I'll check if it's acceptable to just notch it. Then I'll put warning tape along the piece of floor board going on top of the joist. That's the best I can do really. It's for a socket point used by unskilled/ instructed person so under the regs it has to be RCD...

    Wago connectors for ring main

Hi I purchased some wago connectors from Clas Ohlson today. The packaging says they're rated for 32A at 400v. Am I correct in saying you can hide these under floor boards within a suitable enclosure? I was introduced to them by my electrician friend but he said you can't get them for use on...

installing cables through joist where 50mm not possible

The problem I have is two pipes are clipped to the joist thereby not allowing me to drill centre of the joist and complying with the 50mm top and bottom requirement. It runs in parallel along the whole length of the joist. My understanding of the regs is that you could use steel conduit as long...
