Thanks... would jump leading from another car be the same as using a donor battery? Or would i have to take the Hyundai battery out of the circuit completely to rule it out?

Hello all We have a 2010 Hyundai i20 that won't turn over (but starts on a push). Ignition comes on all lights work etc. but on turning the key to the start position there is nothing, no solenoid click or anything, but the headlights and fan etc will go to nothing and the little cigar lighter...

And it failed again tonight! Restarted on jump leads drove it home and within 3 hours it was flat again. Can't see anything causing it to drain so i think it's all pointing towards a duff battery, it's the original so perhaps it's done ok

Apparantly it is an oil regulator solonoid, I went to Mini today and they identified it. £290 to supply and fit a new one!! And they are regular leakers.... The car is just out of warranty (20 days) but Mini are doing the decent thing and doing it FOC.

Here's a view taken from underneath looking up, timing belt to the right, offside inner CV joint to the top. Sensor in question is just above sump joint with armoured cable sheath comming out of it. Any ideas whatt it is?

Thanks for the replies. The sensor screws directly into the block, it looks similar to the one in the ebay link but without the long connector part ( it think, I‘ll have a better look!)
