    Hyundai i20 Alternator drive belt

Thanks John. Do you know if a special tool is required or is it within the scope of an average home mechanic? I won't get to see the car for a few days, but there is a video on YouTube of a guy removing a belt by slackening the alternator and taking the tension out of the belt that way, but I...

    Hyundai i20 Alternator drive belt

Hello all Time to replace the alternator serpentine drive belt on my son's Hyundai i20. I have had a quick look at it and I can't see any sort of adjuster to slacken or take up the belt tension. Is it just a case of removing the alternator top bolt and swinging the alternator clear? Excuse...

    Hyuundai i20 non starter

Getting about 14.3 V with the engine running, and hopefully no slow drains having checked tailgate and glove box lamps. Should I expect the charging Voltage to tail off once the battery is fully charged?

    Hyuundai i20 non starter

Thanks everyone for your replies. I tried a slave battery and suddenly everything was fine so I guess that pretty much rules out ignition switch, solenoid. starter connections fuses etc. Battery was still under warranty and Halfords didn't have a problem swapping it out, however as a matter of...

    Hyuundai i20 non starter

Thanks... would jump leading from another car be the same as using a donor battery? Or would i have to take the Hyundai battery out of the circuit completely to rule it out?

    Hyuundai i20 non starter

Hello all We have a 2010 Hyundai i20 that won't turn over (but starts on a push). Ignition comes on all lights work etc. but on turning the key to the start position there is nothing, no solenoid click or anything, but the headlights and fan etc will go to nothing and the little cigar lighter...

    Hyundai i20 flat battery issue

And it failed again tonight! Restarted on jump leads drove it home and within 3 hours it was flat again. Can't see anything causing it to drain so i think it's all pointing towards a duff battery, it's the original so perhaps it's done ok

    Hyundai i20 flat battery issue

Hello all Just had to go out my son’s Hyundai i20 2010, non-starter with flat battery. When I got there battery was almost turning the engine over but not quite enough, but it wasn’t totally flat. I hooked up jump leads and it started immediately and is fine now, except that the on-board...

    Hyundai i20 tappets

Hi all My son has a Hyundai i20 1.2 petrol. Can anyone advise if the tappet/valve learances are the old fashioned screw/lock-nut type or are they shim/buckets? It's starting to sound a little tappety and i believe they do crop up as a service item (car has done 40K) Also anyone know of a DIY...

Mini (BMW) oil pressure sender unit?

Apparantly it is an oil regulator solonoid, I went to Mini today and they identified it. £290 to supply and fit a new one!! And they are regular leakers.... The car is just out of warranty (20 days) but Mini are doing the decent thing and doing it FOC.

Mini (BMW) oil pressure sender unit?

Here's a view taken from underneath looking up, timing belt to the right, offside inner CV joint to the top. Sensor in question is just above sump joint with armoured cable sheath comming out of it. Any ideas whatt it is?

Mini (BMW) oil pressure sender unit?

Thanks for the replies. The sensor screws directly into the block, it looks similar to the one in the ebay link but without the long connector part ( it think, I‘ll have a better look!)

Mini (BMW) oil pressure sender unit?

Hello all My 2010 Mini Cooper 1.6 petrol, 20K miles has developed a small oil leak. It looks to be coming from a screw in sensor which I assume is an oil pressure sensor, it’s mounted low down on firewall side of the block just above the sump joint, timing belt end of the engine and visible...

    Battery removal before repair?

Just removed an LCD from a Dell Inspiron laptop in order to get replacement. However when ordering a new one I found a "how to" video on the supplier’s site and the first thing it mentions is that you must remove the battery, which I didn’t (but have now!) The laptop was switched off...

    Gaps in block pavers

Just cleaned my block paving and now about to brush some clean sand into the gaps. However where bricks have been hand cut to fit curves etc some of the gaps are bigger than ideal (perhaps up to 5mm worse case). Would I be better brushing some dry mortar in and watering it with a watering...
