Is running direction of underlay important

I'm looking at 11mm Cloud 9 to go under Cormar Gemini in a living room. If I can underlay 'across' the room, the carpet will run in the opposite direction meaning I won't need to do any patch-working and I can use full lengths? I'm hoping carpet height + 11mm underlay is not too high to meet a...

Is running direction of underlay important

Hi all, Just had a massive quote for a living room carpet (with underlay and fitting), from a company, so will instead look to source underlay and carpet myself and get someone else in to fit it. Couple of underlay questions: 1. Although I'm sure full lengths of underlay are best, is it OK to...

Painting Skimmed Wall in Middle of Already Painted Wall - Changing Colour

Hi, thanks. Pretty sure I'm seen somewhere that painting on dark v light backgrounds will make a difference. It would be fine on different walls, but not sure if it would be noticeable on the same wall?

Painting Skimmed Wall in Middle of Already Painted Wall - Changing Colour

Hi all, Hope the title made sense! Basically, I have boxed in a fireplace in the middle of the wall and have skimmed it. See picture below: I am painting the whole wall in F&B Charlotte's Locks - which is a kind of flame orange. I've tested the paint on the exiting red (maybe Crown Period...

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Sorry ianmcd, misinterpretation somewhere perhaps - you asked why LP522 has a wire on 'CH Off', and with 'CH Off' being Pin.2, it doesn't have a wire. You've pointed to LP522 Pin.1 ?

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Thanks everyone, switching 3 & 6 around looks like it has solved it, I'll see how it performs over the next couple of days!

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Hi picasso, can you elaborate what is wrong on the first diagram, as this is the exact wiring before I replaced it for the Nest? @Johnmdc - should switching those two wires fix this?

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Hi iancd, if 'CH off' on the LP522 is pin.2, then it doesn't have a wire, and pin.1 is not used on HeatLink either.

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Thanks both, I haven't changed any module wiring, so have I misinterpreted the instructions to directly replace the the wires from the LP522 to the HeatLink, I have followed the below: LP522 N = Heatlink N LP522 L = Heatlink L LP522 1 HW off = Heatlink 4 Hot Water Satisfied LP522 2 CH off =...

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Thanks both, ianmcd - you responded on my original 'sanity check' post, so this is a week or so in since that thread. Boiler - Worcester Greenstar ri, Y-Plan I believe, before and after below:

3rd Gen Nest - Hot Water only works when Central Heating is on

Hi all, Took a few days to catch this as timings of household activities hid the problem. Having installed a Nest a week ago, I have now discovered that the H/W is only working when the heating comes on (it is on a schedule to be on all through the day but it just doesn't come on). 'Boost' on...

SANITY CHECK - Replacing Drayton LP522 & Honeywell BDR91 with Nest

Thanks ianmcd, when it was installed I let the guy set it up and I've not looked at since that day, so I had no idea what was controlling what - but yes, of course, my current thermostat is just that, a room thermostat :) My room stat is wireless via the BDR91, so as in the picture above (I...

SANITY CHECK - Replacing Drayton LP522 & Honeywell BDR91 with Nest

Hi all, Hope someone can sanity check something for me quickly please? I am in the process of replacing our existing wireless thermostat with a Nest. As per the diagram below, can someone confirm a couple of things for me please: 1. Removing the BDR91 from the system, I just connect Yellow...

What is the best configuration to add a these additional sockets?

*in case this has a bearing (as things stand) Spur 1 - 150W electric toilet heater Spur 2 - double socket for OLED TV, maybe a soundbar/PS5 (this will be housed behind the TV so nothing else with be going into these sockets) Fused switch - 1.35kW heater Main double socket - PS5/Receiver/Subwoof...

What is the best configuration to add a these additional sockets?

Hi EFL, I have traced it to a 150W electric heater in the downstairs toilet. So, can I have 2 separate 4mm spurs on the same socket, or should I rewire the toilet heater into the fused switch/back of the new double socket?

What is the best configuration to add a these additional sockets?

Thanks EFL - just one more thing which may be an issue: Please see in the first picture attached - the left hand double socket is wired as above. The open hole where the previous gas fire electric socket was, you can see what I believe to be the mains flex (in the above image), looks to be...
