How long before I can instal upvc windows

Hi all, I am going to divide an existing aperture where the stud wall of an en-suite i am planning will meet the aperture, creating a window within/without kinda setup from an existing single long UPVC window. I have settled on housebricks (long side facing out to match the aesthetic of the...

Dividing existing upvc window into two separate windows

Thanks again. I asked a upvc company about a fitted divider between the two windows. He said that it was hard to imagine and could I supply a drawing. So that tells me that there is probably no, off the shelf solution. Which leaves the bricks. Just wanted to explore my options. Cheers Tigercubrider.

Dividing existing upvc window into two separate windows

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately if I am reading it right, the front elevation would have an exposed stud wall between the window frames. On reflection, it could only be bricks to match the existing brickwork, or upvc to match the window frames. Not sure if such a thing exists though....anybody?

Dividing existing upvc window into two separate windows

Hi there I have an existing upvc window that is wider than an en-suite that I want to build. roughly 2/3 of it (1500mm) would be inside the en-suite, divided by the stud wall that I wish to erect. I would like the neatest way to divide the aperture leaving me with a window inside and outside of...

    sheeting up

Thanks J&K, very helpful and constructive answer. I was able to go onto the internet and look up what you described, I have a much clearer picture now. I agree, it is too much to expect nil dust. Cheers, Dave.

    sheeting up

Hi, I have somebody coming to replace my tired old kitchen french windows and side lights on Friday. The side lights are 50/50 wall/window, which are to have the wall cut out to allow for full height bi-folding doors. My kitchen diner, hallway, lounge and stairs are all open plan, and it never...

Minor repairs to and Painting pine wall panelling

I have just been given some reclaimed pine wall panelling, some is stripped, some is not. (some varnished some painted) I would like to paint it, and would like advice on the best finish, preferably not high gloss, and can I get away with just roughing up the surface and painting over as long as...

Can I get away with this

Hi Boilerman2, Can I just clarify with you, would the nightmare be just the not being able to run the bath and shower at the same time, or are there other issues also?

Can I get away with this

Thanks for your reply Boilerman2. It's not so much the physical stuff as the grey cell stuff. I know where those hot and cold feeds are, and running two lengths of plastic pipe with the odd fitting and a bit of boxing in would have been a nice diversion, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start...

    Drainer overflow mystery

Thank you for your responses, no, it's not that. In fact, after I checked that out, I wondered if I was supposed to remove the spiggot and drill a hole or something through the existing hole in the waste, to let the water in. Sounds daft I know but I was running out of ideas, and when I removed...

    Drainer overflow mystery

We have a new sink, it is an astrocast echo 1.5 bowl. On the drainer it has a small independent overflow system (they call it aquaturea) whereas there are a few small slots in the corner of the drainer and underneath there is a pipe that leads to a dishwasher type connector (the conical shaped...

    Glasswasher...New years eve...pub...help!

Hi, firstly I don't in reality expect anybody to be there tonight but I have to try. I may have dropped an almighty clanger, in a nutshell the glasswasher went bust, I needed to sort it today as it is NYE, so I have bought one that is wired 3 phase, but when referenced on the internet, the...

Cracks in render and resulting damage

Hi, I wonder could anybody take a look at the pics and tell me what is best to do about the cracks that have appeared outside of a couple of our downstairs windows. Same elevation. After finding them I went inside and moved a wall unit from against the inside wall and there is quite a damp...
