    Disposal of excess soil

...moving it now. The hoisted sack things are a good idea, less unsightly than a skip and you can put them where you want. My old dad wheelbarrowed earth from the new patio site down the end of the garden, now some other poor sod has to wheelbarrow it all the way back to get rid of it. If...

    Anyone know about calculating concrete.

You'd need your sanity questioning if you are Happy to shift 30 tonnes of concrete with a wheelbarrow. Bucking farmy.

    Barristers striking

I saw the news bulletin say 15% and i don't think inflation has gone up that much in the last hour - or are we living in the last days of the Weimar Republic? Better get a wheelbarrow.

    Wheelbarow, repair or replace?

Hi, as title, I have two functional wheelbarrow frames with leaky steel bowls, are the plastic replacement liners for ~£20 worth fitting to one of them, or should I bite the bullet and replace with a new one? also any thoughts about which makes to look out for or makes to avoid?

    Removing old brick outhouses?

...brickhouse in anyway connected to the structure of the house/houses? If not; sledge hammer, Kango hammer, SDS Chisel, swinging ball, dynamite! May be the last two a bit extreme? I would start by getting the roof off them, then just knock em to bits. Wheelbarrow and skip would be very handy.

    Outdoor cable route?

SWA would be best, although you might be OK with HiTuf - what part of the garden is there? What are the risks of the cable getting gouged by gardening tools, whacked by wheelbarrows, scraped by cycles etc? Conduit may be a problem to gland at the light.... This is notifiable, BTW.

    Soil Pipe - Closed up

He could have been sensible and stuffed some newspaper in the pipe and then plopped a little cement on top to plug it. Or he could have emptied a wheelbarrow full down the pipe until he filled it? Who knows, you'll have to do some exploration digging/drilling etc to find out.

    Problems getting concrete delivered

Wheelbarrow, youre lucky ive shifted the stuff in large buckets before on similar sites. Alternativly get it delivered in small bags that are easier to handle and move (more...

Missed this, but Adam, does it actually 'run' off it's internal battery? As in cart it down the street (wheelbarrow) and watch your on screen position? I think this was the battery thing ... Am thinking could set up on battery, in home, take to car plug n' play !! Already warm and locked in...

rotten garden wall rebuild and 11kV power cable

'tis all done now. Cable moved, marked and protected. Now, about the wall. It's about a metre of soil and I think I'll put one of the thinner gabion baskets in there to make the corner. I have no wheelbarrow access so I think this will work ok. Any good suppliers out there please?

    Confused by Concrete Calculations

I did a similar sized slab last year. 1 bulk bag of ballast and 6 small bags. 6 bags cement. Only get the bulk bag if you've got a wheelbarrow, but it does work out cheaper. (Maybe not if you need to buy a barrow, but job will be easier with a barrow, and you'll need a mixer)

    alternative to skip hire ?

I'd be happy with that, probably equivalent cost of 2 skips, will take as much if not more, and no wheelbarrowing necessary! There is the cost of running the lorry, then once removed, the load will still need processing, to separate the soil and concrete, then the soil screened and the concrete...

    So why would anyone...

...a sub in Leicester. One of them took the lid off a transformer and got a flash off it. Local residents reported seeing a bloke running away with a wheelbarrow with a bloke in it. That learned him a lesson! (For pedants: I am aware of the double solecism in the last sentence. It is...

    Recommend me a wheelbarrow - 2 wheels or 1?

Exactly this. I've had my wheelbarrow 30 years now and use it every day. Just need to maintain it properly. It's had 17 new wheels and 14 new tubs, it looks barely a couple of years old.

    Soft concrete

It wasnt cement that was sprinkled, it was a ton of water. It looked like a bath after it was done. Wheelbarrow was washed out too into it. To me it didnt show care for keeping the water ratios right. No care at all but then i thought, i am only a keen DIYer so maybe i was missing a trick...
