Having heavy bags on front lawn

...of weight on front grass. They will drop off the sand and cement in ton bags. Is it best to put down some ply or scaffold planks first? The concrete path is being laid in the back garden so the cement and sand will be wheelbarrowed around on tarmac. I guess not dropping it is pretty...

Width of walkway between two buildings

standard internal doorway is about 762mm about 740 between door stops 560 seems to be a wheelbarrow width so aiming for maybe 610mm with garden gate frame and stops in place may be a place to start keeping in mind a garden gate will tend to encroach on the opening by perhaps 40mm gate side at...

    Heating setup query...help !!

...the client had very specific demands of hot water, and (that was in the garage) that dimensions were adhered to that allowed him to get a wheelbarrow passed the cylinder, and his wife wouldn't hot the boiler assembly with her car  Some aspect of that install were totally over...

    wheelbarrows

Used to have the siteblazer wheelbarrow (heavy duty, 750 model I think) mainly for delivering concrete but to be fair I didn't use it everyday but does seems well made and clever design, not cheap though but could be a good investment, if you can't find the link I'll see if I can find the...

    flying ladders

lvsystems, at least they didn't land on my dad's car! As a builder's wheelbarrow once did from the back of a pickup. They didn't even notice either, this was at 70 on the motorway. His car needed a new bumper, bonnet, headlight, wing. Didn't get his reg, as he was too busy finding his...

I think so. I think you're referring to his unfeasibly large test*cles. And no - I don't need a wheelbarrow to carry mine around; just the special trousers...

    Cement base

...of the shuttering? What materials are you using? There should be stone/ballast in the mix. You can mix up small quantities of concrete in a wheelbarrow quite easily. But you don't really need a concrete base for an IBC. Hardcore and concrete blocks/slabs to bring up the height for the tap...

Wheeled thing to drag stuff around

Right, so I've been looking at wheelbarrow-sized wheels and similar. I haven't yet found anything suitable (in the local skips etc!) to use as an axle, though.

    Killing...

...the life of another sentient creature.. where do you draw the line? After all, we wash our hands and kill bugs, we drive our cars and kill flies, we move the wheelbarrow and kill woodlice, .. but a wasp? kill or release? bees, birds, squirrels? where do we draw the line?

    Protecting/Marking an External Gas Pipe

hi, it needs protection from poss damage from ie wheelbarrows etc, so if its high up anyway it should be fine as it is. plastic is deemed to suffer in the sunlight so should not be used for clipping. saying that the plastic ones will last u for years, so if its already done i would not...

Trench vs strip foundation for conservatory

...regarding foundations for a conservatory. If I go with a trench foundation I will need 2 cu.m. readymix. Access is very poor, so either a wheelbarrow job (with a heck of a lot of trips) or a pump (£££££’s). If I go with a strip foundation I would need only 0.7 cu.m. – maybe make on site with...

How full is a skip ?

My dad was driving on the M62 once, a pickup truck in front had a loose wheelbarrow on the back, it flew off and caused about £500 worth of damage to his laguna. Needed new front bumper, new headlight assembly, new wing, new bonnet. Thankfully covered by my dad's insurance, but not the pickup's...

    Concrete base for summer house

A mate wants to put a summer house at the end of his garden . Is a concrete base easy to make with shuttering and mixing the cement in a wheelbarrow? His summer house will be 3 x 4 metres or 3 x 3 metres. It's pretty rough raised ground at the top of his garden where he wants the base to go.

Point me in the right direction

...one of my houses at the moment and using 5 parts building sand,1 lime and 1 cement but mine is a stone house and yours may be brick and you won't need the lime. I am chopping out with a lump and chisel and mixing by hand in a wheelbarrow because it is a slow job so i don't mix too much at once.
