Can you spur off a flex outlet? What is the correct way to do this?

This is what I initially thought, but as flex outlets only seen to come with an in and out, I started questioning it and wondered if I was going down a "cowboy" or bodge route.

Can you spur off a flex outlet? What is the correct way to do this?

I ran some cables to wire in a toothbrush charger and a mirror with a light. My thought process was to bring the lighting circuit down to the mirror and power the mirror with a flex outlet then continue the circuit on to the toothbrush charger. Flex outlets seem to be two connections only, the...

Can this drain valve be replaced with an isolation valve?

It has a square "key" slot like when you bleed a radiator, when I tried to turn it, naively thinking it was an isolation valve water started coming out, hence why I assumed it was a drain valve.

Can this drain valve be replaced with an isolation valve?

There isn't a hose outlet on it at all, so clearly not a drain valve, thank you for pointing that out. It did have a mixer tap on it yes. Had hot and cold feed going to it. Same question I guess though, can it be swapped for an isolation valve or is important to the plumbing system?

Can this drain valve be replaced with an isolation valve?

I am renovating my bathroom and have struggled to get a plumber on site. I have decided to attempt some of the pipework myself as I can't continue with anything until some of it is done. When removing the old bath I found the hot water feed to the taps has what appears to be a drain valve on...

    Correct pipework for shower mixer?

It doesn't help that some idiot (me) has built a niche exactly where the copper pipe would be able to go straight up to the shower mixer.

    Correct pipework for shower mixer?

Thank you, I figured copper was the correct way to do it, I have never soldered pipe work before (electrical items yes) and the thought of making a mistake and sealing it in with tiles concerns me. I would also have concerns with push fit being installed by myself and sealed in, looks like I...

    Correct pipework for shower mixer?

Hi, I wondered if anyone could provide some guidance please. I am renovating our main bathroom and I am looking to add a mixer bar shower over the bath. A plumber has indicated taking the feeds from the bath taps would be fine, it's on a combi boiler and pressure is good. What would be the...

Tile backer board, tanking or just apply the tiles to what is there?

Hi Steve, Current thinking is 600x300 tiles weighing approximately 3.3kg each. The wall is actually fairly flat, I hadn't checked until you asked this question, there are some dips where the old plaster has come off, but we are talking 1/2mm. I will be removing bath and sink to replace with...

Tile backer board, tanking or just apply the tiles to what is there?

I have started a bathroom renovation and it won't be long before I need to start tiling, but I'm just going round in circles and could use some input from others, if you would be so kind. All my internal walls are block with some kind of "screed/render" over the top. I have removed the old...

Do I need a vanity unit mounting frame?

The pipes, supply and waste, utilise the small boxing in below the current sink. I would like to build up the boxing in to form a sheriff above the sink and then fit a wall hung vanity unit and sink. In trying to find the answer through Google and you tube I can find mounting frames (like the...

Bathroom - Removing a shaver plug and replacing with toothbrush charger and mirror

I am embarking on a bathroom renovation, but have some questions about electrics in the bathroom. I have an electric shaver socket in the room already, my plan is to remove the shaver socket, re-route the cable and have it power a mirror and a permanent toothbrush charger. I am assuming this...

Knocking through a wall that has multiple sockets, do I have any options?

Before, to prove it is as suspected, part of the ring? After, to make sure I haven't made any connection errors? Or for other reasons that indicate I shouldn't be doing it?

Knocking through a wall that has multiple sockets, do I have any options?

I did consider this and covering the join with heat shrink, but wasn't sure on whether that would have any issues with regulations. If I was to do a poor job of soldering the wires or something it could lead to issues.

Knocking through a wall that has multiple sockets, do I have any options?

Thanks again Pete, and JJ. I always over complicate/ over think these things, which in reality when "fiddling" with electrics isn't a bad thing, but you would have thought I would have managed to Google something that would have resulted in maintenance free junction boxes coming up

Knocking through a wall that has multiple sockets, do I have any options?

Thank you Pete, so is it that simple. Purchase a maintenance free connector block, cut the cables and join them in the box, then seal away in the ceiling. Obviously disconnecting power etc before any work begins.

Knocking through a wall that has multiple sockets, do I have any options?

I have received fantastic assistance from this forum in the past and so I have returned again for more of your wise guidance. We are knocking through a load bearing wall and there are multiple power sockets that will be removed. I could relocate one of the sockets, but the others would need to...
