    I have one of these.....

Hi Yes, it is my intention to try to open the blanking nut etc. Basically, I live over 200 miles away from the property - I will be present when the plumber and electrician comes in. My thoughts are to have a new tank on standby, so that if the cylinder does break, the plumbers can continue...

    I have one of these.....

I think its a good 20 years. I have owned the house for 10 years and it was already in the house when I bought it. I need a cylinder capable of heating the water by electric as well as the gas ch boiler.

    I have one of these.....

Hi John Yes, there is a blanking nut. I have been told that when trying to open these on aged tanks, often they crack. I need to have the equivalent product so that I can have the immersion heater fitted. Are you able to suggest a suitable product from screwfix?

    I have one of these.....

It is heated via a gas central heating boiler. I want to change it to a new cylinder which will allow it to be heated via the gas boiler, or via electricity immersion heater. Have been looking at screwfix but I can't work out the correct product to by. Some of the tanks are called...

    Decent Taps?

Thanks, I am looking at Bristan as they have longer guarantees. I thought the Ceramic was better than washers - longer lasting?

    Decent Taps?

Hi I am doing a bathroom refurb on my small 1 bedroom rental property. I want to put in nice taps rather than basic bog standard old fashioned looking taps. However, what I fear is the reliability and ease of fixing a leak. With the old fashioned taps, I think they are designed for easy...

    Which Paint?

I think I'm sorted - have had a good google. Will use emulsion for now on the walls and later (feb/march) oil based eggshell on the walls.

    Which Paint?

Hi I need to paint my living room urgently as a tidy up. I am nowhere near decided on a permanent colour yet as I have furnishings to be chosen. In February/March, I will want to redo the room as I will know all my colours by then. I will also want to use a good quality paint on the walls...

How to Clean Plaster Dust from Laminate Flooring

Doesn't sound condescending. I removed all the small splatters with a scraper, then hoovered up before washing the floor last night. Its just a light dust to about half my floor - just looks yuky but I will get there now I know what to do :-)

How to Clean Plaster Dust from Laminate Flooring

Hi Thank you for the replies. Luckily I do have a George Hoover, wet and dry. The plasterer mixed up outside, I guess his dust sheet was just a bit in adequate - they were a twill and looked to have a plastic backing, so not sure what went wrong. My TV and furniture was covered in plastic...

How to Clean Plaster Dust from Laminate Flooring

Hi I had my ceiling and bay window area plastered yesterday. The plasterer used dust sheets over my laminate floor, but loads of dust still got through. I cleaned the floor last night - was some dried on plaster dabs, removed these with a scrapper. Washed my floor and it was nice and clean...

How to remove a superlatex paint?

Yes, have tried that but its painfully slow. I cant work out why so much of the paint has literally been peeling off so easily, yet the rest is stuck.

How to remove a superlatex paint?

Hi Am in the middle of prepping a room for decorating. In the bay window there is a ceiling. The ceiling has, I think, been painted with a superlatex paint. In has a pimply textured surface which I don't like so I don't intend to paint over it. Patches of this paint has been coming off - I...

    Decent Quality Mixer Tap

Hi I had my bathroom refitted less than three years ago. The hand basin mixer tap has just fallen to pieces. How do I tell a decent quality tap? Have been looking at screwfix - some have 10 year guarantees but there doesnt seem to be many ratings to go by. I see some taps have 'ceramic...
