    Skim the board before plastering?

Yes, that makes sense, the backerboard is begging for tiles. I'm a bit worried that if I mask first, skim, then tile, and it's a millimetre out, it'll all go horribly wrong. What about tiling first (with trim), then plaster up to the trim. Would that look/be odd?

    Skim the board before plastering?

Thanks. Will have to be very precise. The tiles will have tile trim. So don't tile first, then plaster up to the trim?

    Skim the board before plastering?

Hello I'm wondering whether you would skim the plasterboard/backerboard before tiling? I have an ensuite which has Marmox muiltiboard in the wet areas and moisture resistant plasterboard elsewhere. The room will be part tiled/part plastered. My builder (who won't be doing the tiling) has...

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

There's always these. I'm definitely old to even consider them!

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

Yes, that's my concern. What I still can't reconcile is why the shower tray looks more of a death trap than the tiles. You'd think they'd require a slip rating too. At least the tiles would have grout lines.

Raised edge between plasterboards - how much is a problem?

Thanks. He was diligent in how he fixed the screws in. I asked because a friend had commented ‘you’ll never get that ceiling looking good with that ridge’. I feel more optimistic about it now.

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

I have and it seems fine. That’s what’s thrown me (pardon the pun). I was reading about R ratings and thought I’d check with the supplier, just to make sure. So I was surprised it’s so poorly rated. I was just about to order the wetroom former so I’m really in a quandary now!

Raised edge between plasterboards - how much is a problem?

Thanks. No, it's the same thickness plasterboard. I didn't do it myself but the person who did said he struggled with the joists not being level. (I'm not surprised, nothing in this house is square or level.) I know he was using packers so I guess this is the best the could do.

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

This is their guidance so I know the tiles aren't recommended for the shower area. I'm just wondered if using them is a complete no-no or whether grouting would help mitigate it. As I said, the polished shower tray looks like more dangerous than the tiles!

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

They don’t have an R rating. I haven’t bought them yet but the supplier says they use their own rating -M24- which is medium to high slippage. This from online

Do you have to use anti-slip tiles in wetrooms?

Would appreciate some advice please. I have a small en suite and initially planned to put in a shower tray but decided a wetroom would look and work better. Unfortunately the floor tiles I would like to have aren't antislip. (They have a matt finish and they feel much 'grippier' than others...

Raised edge between plasterboards - how much is a problem?

Hello What’s the maximum workable uneveness between plasterboard edges when skimming? I’m wondering how big a problem this one is going to be. And how can you fix it? It’s square edge plasterboard. Do I need to measure it? Thanks

Narrow top access panel for wall mounted taps?

Hello, I initially post this in Plumbing, but perhaps this is a better place for it. Wondering if I can get an idea as to the minimum space necessary to access my bath wall mounted taps from above in the event of needing to change them in the future. Where the bath is going I plan to build a...

Narrow top access panel for wall mounted taps?

Wondering if I can get an idea as to the minimum space necessary to access my bath wall mounted taps from above in the event of needing to change them in the future. Where the bath is going I plan to build a timber frame out from the wall, approx 1m high and so create a top shelf. The bath...

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

It was in the context of the comment about it not being compliant because of the exposed cable/cable entry. It will go in a small ensuite and the left side of the cabinet could be within 60cm of an extended shower head (but not when in its cradle). Wouldn't that make it Zone 2?

Ah ok, that'll be less of a job then (y)

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

The electrics are in the top part of the cabinet - can see the screws so probably accessible. I only have retailer photos right now. I didn't see this before I bought it! It's got a cable entry grommet Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I need to prove it really isn't IP44, in which...

Mains bathroom cabinet connection - no void behind cabinet

Hello Have just taken delivery of an IP44 rated bathroom cabinet with LED/demister. The back is completely flat, no void, and as you can see from the spec diagram, the cable comes out of the top. The electrician is going to run a power cable to the area but I'm scratching my head as to how...

Geberit vs Villeroy & Boch - 80mm concealed cisterns

They're all much of a muchness when it comes to price. I prefer the VB faceplate but I don't know how long they've been doing cisterns - I've always thought of them as front of house rather than behind the scenes. The pan will be a floorstanding non branded one but if the logo on the flush...

Geberit vs Villeroy & Boch - 80mm concealed cisterns

Thanks opps. I hadn't come across the Grohe one but I have now. (y) If they're all much of a muchness I guess it'll come down to the faceplate, but your spare washer story puts Geberit in pole position. Hope the bean counters haven't since decided to cut costs.
