    Noisy bearings on Oil Burner

Hi I have a noisy boiler on my Greenstar Utility 18/25 boiler. I took the motor off the back and replaced the bearing (6202zz- Thank you burnerman john ) on the fan as there was a little movement on it I also had to replace the drive cog pipe that connects fan to pump as this had snapped. It is...

    Filling out plaster around window

I did the other three sides tonight but only got one coat on as ran out of time had to take kids to light show. Some bits ok and some bits rougher than tarzans feet. I tried to fix a bit with a brush and just made a mess. Picture attached. I found it difficult to get in the swing with such...

    Filling out plaster around window

Just read about the easyfill. That was plan B actually. I had a go at the two coat method. Just a small area but trying to fill that gap was tricky for a rookie. Once second coat was on I left it for 15 mins then tried to flat it out but it was picking up a bit so guessing I should have tried to...

    Filling out plaster around window

Hi. Got a small area to plaster around a window and was wondering if it was best to fill this gap so it blended better or just follow the contour of the board? I'm thinking fill the gap as it will look better?

    Velux window beading

I have tweaked the beading so I dropped the right hand bead down so that it lines up now and I think I can feather in the edges around the base.

    Vicrorian wall corner repair

It's only going to take a few minutes to knock the filler out and get back to brick so I'm not too worried. I could post some pictures but I feel like I'm doing the painter a dis-service when he just patched it up to try and help and everyone starts laughing! It's not pretty and probably won't...

    Velux window beading

Hi, Velux window boarded and dodgy gaps filled with board adhesive. The ceiling is lath and plaster and bit bumpy so I have added some plaster board to level the walls out with a view to filling the gap. The problem is that when I offer up the corner beading the front and sides line up but the...

    Vicrorian wall corner repair

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the comments. Cancel the painter!? Are you going to tell her?! The painter has been. Bless him he chucked a bag of easyfill into that wall and painted it! never had the conversation about repairing it as I was keeping out of it so this repair will have...

    Vicrorian wall corner repair

The other side is fine. The failing plaster i am pretty sure is due to a poor repair job from an electrical cable that was almost buried in the plaster . The cable has been removed causing the gaps. No evidence of contamination or anything. I'll have a think. I have some board and dab already so...

    Vicrorian wall corner repair

Thanks. It's ground floor and yes it's corner of a chimney stack. I hadn't thought about adding plasterboard but that will be much easier to get a level finish i imagine. I might well do that. I have a couple of levels I was going use. I don't have anything to drop a plumb line from or would you...

    Vicrorian wall corner repair

The wife has booked a painter to come at weekend but there is a bit of a mess in the corner of the room that needs fixing and I can't get anyone to help before weekend. So the plan is to remove the old wood corner bead at the top. Chuck some bonding coat on and then fasten the corner bead on...

    Covering expansion gap skirting (1)

I managed source some nice oak trim for around the stairs that would cover the gaps but I could also use it against the wall? It won't offer the protection of a skirting though so would most people still put a chunky skirting here or use this? Thanks

    Velux window plaster board support

Yeah you're right it's Fakro. I've made a frame. I was tempted to use expanding foam but I can fill the frame with insulation. That part of the void is actually part of the house , it was originally an outside wall but this is the extension I'm redoing.

    Velux window plaster board support

Hi Putting a velux in and have made a frame around the existing ceiling to roof so I can attach board to it. On one side there is a huge void behind the board so I have mocked up using an old plasterboard to get some idea of what to do. Would you put timber packers behind or screw up some...

    Covering expansion gap skirting (1)

Hi I had a quick search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Fitted engineering wood floor (4mm) veneer. I have an expansion gap normally around 10mm but at most 20 in places before I got my eye in! I was hoping to avoid scotia and my skirting is a few mm shy. So do I just buy...
