    Undersink waterheater thingummy.

Just to finish off... not only was the quarter-turn valve leaking, but also the pressure gauge itself started leaking, which at last prompted me to move this from the To Do list to the Do It Blooming Now list. This happened after the Water Co was mucking around with the pressure while...

    LED switching capacity

Ah yes, median, mean, average. Interesting observation. In the attic I have over 200 incandescents, bought in a fit of indignation when the EU gave notice that they would be banned. Since then of course, LEDs have been developed that ape the shape and light pattern, so my incandescents are...

    LED switching capacity

They should, but I suppose like most things they get hijacked by our obsession with 'cheap'. Our halogen was the same, leaky but working. The thing is with thatch though, can't put halogen too near because of the heat.

    LED switching capacity

Those Steinel look the dogs. But due to the vertical space available, or rather not available, none of the 50W will fit. However, I found this Crompton https://www.ledbulbs.co.uk/products/crompton-phoebe-led-atlas-mini-led-floodlight-ip66-50w-4200lm-cool-white with an eight year guarantee - not...

    LED switching capacity

Curses. You're right. It flashes. Thanks for the tip. So, need a new one. It's a 50W Eterna, came from LED Hut, They no longer sell Eterna. This is it, I think https://www.bltdirect.com/eterna-ip65-cool-white-50w-black-led-economy-floodlight although all Eterna floods now have Economy in the...

    External crack cover - fibre?

Bathroom extension, single storey, 60s, hard concrete blocks, cavity. About 10 x 15ft. Slight horizontal cracking in the cement render most of the way round the three side. Mainly along the same course at window cill level about half way up. External cracking only. Been filled and painted by...

    LED switching capacity

They're about a foot apart, so, no, I can't be sure. The replacement PIR arrived. Same model. On the box it says LED capacity 200W but not exceeding eight lamps. Previously our (halogen) flood was at the bottom of one barge board. A tree had grown, as they do, and was obscuring it. So I put up...

    LED switching capacity

Eterna PIR failed after 30 months. It's switching a standalone 50W Eterna LED flood, both PIR and flood are tucked nice and dry under the eaves of our thatched. At least, presume it's the PIR. The flood is flashing on/off continually when triggered and I can hear click click, it stops at the...

    Socket with wooden facia.

Haha. But you're not wrong. I never used to wear specs, now I have a host of the damned things. Perhaps I should wear them more often.

    Socket with wooden facia.

Side connections.... yes, but only the earth, and they are sunk as well. Thanks for highlighting the L&N. I sussed that by buzzing them out, but I shouldn't have to, surely? When did you last see a socket with unlabelled terminals? Even back in the days of roundpin.

    Socket with wooden facia.

Couple of pics. First one shows no L&N marking, and I looked very carefully for it. Second shows the screws sunk into the cutaways. Yes, but on any other socket the driver can be vertical, on this one it has to be at an angle.

Bosch PWP631BF1B induction hob power limit

We have a four-ring Bosch. Don't recall the model. Unless you're running a commercial kitchen, I doubt you'll need 3kw. It heats soooo fast. Try it.

    Socket with wooden facia.

I put one in. Fortunately the cables were long enough that I could tip it well forward to get the best angle on the screwdriver. So it went in OK, but compared to an MK for instance, it's not great. Incidentally, the L & N aren't marked. On the back there's a DP label. Does this mean it doesn't...

    Socket with wooden facia.

I emailed them. See what they say. Yes, if it could be removed from the fascia, there might be a workaround, but it's riveted and glued in place. All very annoying, especially at £40+ a pop.

    Socket with wooden facia.

The screws are long enough, it's just the angle. Access, the fascia is already routed out next to the screws, but the insert is so 'low profile' that it site too near the front. If there were a way of altering it, I agree with you, I surely would have done. I see a lot of Varilight, with...

    Socket with wooden facia.

A few people make these. I bought two double sockets from Olivers Lighting. Oak fascia. Very nice, and the unusually large fascia covers the problems created by the wonky dry lining boxes that I inherited. https://www.oliverslighting.com/acatalog/Heritage_Wooden_Plug_Sockets-p1.html But.... The...

    Best underfloor for vinyl?

With Polyflor Forest FX, The flooring chap decided the floor was flat enough as it was. But he agreed that otherwise a self-leveller would have been the correct solution. Thankyou.

    Towel rail timer?

Thankyou. So I don't need to put it in a cupboard, that helps. The seven day timer looks ideal. https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SMFST77.html Things have changed a bit since I last bought a new timer in, errm, 1982. And I didn't know one could buy them with a fuse. That saves another bit...

    Best underfloor for vinyl?

Will be having some vinyl laid over a dry concrete floor. Level but not screeded. The vinyl will be something decent like Polyflor or Karndean. I presume it's best to overlay the concrete. Should I use ply or hardboard? And what should I use to stick it onto the concrete? TIA

    Towel rail timer?

Having a 600w electric towel rail put in the shower room. It will be the only heat in there, so in addition to a ceiling switch, I'd like to have a timer. But there's no room for a cupboard in which to site a timer. Is there any timer that could be hung on the wall without boxing it in? TIA.
