Another question about flooring a loft... (rolls eyes)

Thanks for letting me know about the BOGOF, it saved me a 40 minute round trip to Leatherhead, and some money! I bought four packs and thought I'd made a bit of a mistake when I got back to the car (a Peugeot 206)! Who said all those years of playing Tetris were wasted? :D

Another question about flooring a loft... (rolls eyes)

You might be right (I hadn't spotted that). If it is the same stuff, it'll work out cheaper to buy it singly. Thanks

Another question about flooring a loft... (rolls eyes)

    The joists are 50mm x 100mm with a spacing of 290mm. Thanks

Another question about flooring a loft... (rolls eyes)

But with a bit of difference... Our loft is currently boarded out (by the previous owners), with loads of tongue and groove floorboards that have been nailed into the joists - short sections, long section, off cuts basically  I want to rip up all these ‘floorboards’ to lay...

    Insulation in rafters

Thanks for your help (or should I say merci? :D). I was just a bit concerned about the current insulation pulling down the new stuff but I guess it's not that heavy.

    Insulation in rafters

Hi, I know similar questions have been asked before but I haven't found an exact answer so wonder if anyone can help. I live in a (approx) 1935, 3 bed semi. There is no felt behind the tiles so it is quite draughty and dusty up in the loft. There is some sort of insulation between the...

    Replacing a EP3001 controller

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean I have to replace the whole timer unit (i.e. it doesn't just connect up to the existing backplate)? I expect this is something I'll have to get a proffessional in to do?

    Replacing a EP3001 controller

Can't say as I've noticed any attachments to the cylinder but then I don't really know what I'm looking for. The boiler is right next to the cylinder on the ground floor which is why I'm assuming it's not gravity fed. I will clear out some of the carp in the utility room tonight...

    Replacing a EP3001 controller

I was about to order a Potterton EP6002 controller to replace my existing EP3001 as I understand the wiring and backplate are the same for all Potterton controllers. The reason I want to replace the 3001 is because it can't run the hot water and heating separately. This isn’t an issue during...

    BT Overhead Wires Into House

Thanks for the info (wether on topic or not :D ). I think I'll do as simonpolly says as I have absolutley no need for this line (which wasn't noticable when it was clipped to the old window and painted over). The window fitter has clipped it down but couldn't really do much with it. If...

    BT Overhead Wires Into House

Hi guys, not sure if this is the correct forum for this but I think it's the best start. We have an overhead line (I'm assuming a BT one) attached to our house. We had new windows installed yesterday which has 'unearthed' the dangling down wire from its resting place (which was originally...

Do I sand down for a second coat of gloss?

Don't think I'm going to get a chance to do any more work this week so may have to wait until the weekend. In which case I may give the paintwork a light sand with 800 wet and dry paper. Thanks for your responses. Chris

Do I sand down for a second coat of gloss?

Thanks for the info regsmyth, I had a feeling I had to sand down but googling didn't prove fruitful (maybe I wasn't googling correctly :? ) I'm hoping that once the second coat has gone on it'll look a bit better, otherwise we're just going to have to be 'those people with that orange front...

    DIY cavity wall insulation?

Told you my mind was small and simple. I didn't think about the work being notifiable. It's a 30's house which has been rendered so I am unable to see the brickwork. I think I might go for the foam backed wallpaper option as the current wallpaper needs replacing anyway. cmother1, if...

    DIY cavity wall insulation?

Hello all, not sure if this is the best place to post this. We are having three front windows replaced this week (two bays and a small bedroom). The bedroom bay has a tendency to gather condensation which in turn has caused mould issues in the past (currently resolved with a dehumidifier...

Do I sand down for a second coat of gloss?

Hello all Just a quick question (or three), I painted our front door this weekend, the door has had a primer layer, weather seal undercoat and now the top coat of gloss. As the top coat is a colour, it needs a second coat, do I need to sand this down before I apply the second coat of paint...

How easy is to replace a mixer tap?

Thanks for your help guys. Now I know that it should be an easy enough job I'll have a look under the sink to see what I'm dealing with. Regards Chris

How easy is to replace a mixer tap?

Hello all Despite telling my wife umpteen times, when washing up, not to balance the big heavy chopping board on its side as it could easily fall onto the mixer tap - guess what...? We have a Franke Moselle tap and although it doesn’t appear to be damaged (ie, it doesn’t look like it’s...
