We're fitting underfloor heating to an existing mid '80's house. Turns out that there is only 10mm polystyrene above the block and beam :( Any idea on how to insulate this, and fit UFH, without having to raise the floor level significantly? Thanks

New build, socket in cupboard under sink

Is this even allowed? Under sink is a socket. Here's the back of it. Is a socket in sink unit allowed? If so, is that wiring legit? Doesn't looked fixed very well either.

Shower pump plugged into lighting circuit

Hi, Just replaced a pump on a shower, and found out that the previous pump was hooked up to the lighting circuit on a fused spur. I've put the new pump in (which has a 3A fused plug on it), and connected it again. This is all in the loft. Just wondering if there are any safety issue with this?

Washing machine motor brushes replace - now motor broken!

Hello, As title really, our drum stopped spinning, and we had the brushes replaced, which had both worn right down. A few washes later, we noticed an odd burning kind of smell coming from the machine. We are now told the armature on the motor is knackered, and we'll need a new motor. My...

    1/8" rounding over router bit

Hi all, I'm attempting to make so custom sized kitchen cabinet doors. It's an IKEA kitchen, but the way we've laid it out means we have to create some doors of a unique size, which can't be bought anywhere. So, from my measurements of the existing doors and draw fronts, the existing radius...

Installed electric oven, and circuit now trips.

Ok, firstly, I really don't know a lot about electrics, so excuse me if I get any/all terminology wrong here. Basically, we've got a 25 year old house. The consumer unit (or fuse box as I call it) is pretty old, and has about 7 fuses/jumpers/what ever the correct term is. 3 are 30amp (plugs...
