Not sure if this is a dumb question.. how do I remove the bulb from the pictured fitting? I think it should twist maybe but it seems completely solid.
Thanks!
Took the heater enclosure off to investigate - quite a bit of fluff in there, some evidence of burning :cautious:
Have given it a thorough clean out, wooden skewer was helpful.
Giving it another test to see if it still trips - think I will replace the heater anyway as it's 5 years old now so...
If that's the case then a straight replace of the heater unit should solve? Was wondering if anything further back in the electrics could cause the flash?
Bit more testing this eve. Runs for a short time then a visible flash in the drum and tripped again. Wondering if this suggests the heater is the culprit?
hi all,
yesterday eve our IDV75 tumble dryer tripped the electrics. when I opened it there was a strong smell of [electrical?] burning so I turned off the plug and left the consumer unit switch off (it's on a separate circuit in the garage). when I tested this morning it seemed to be working...
CMOS reset did the trick!!
Used a scalpel to open the sealed battery and prise off the contact. Boot with that disconnected started the fans and threw some BIOS messages before starting Windows.
Thanks for the help :)
no, only lights are the one on the power switch, and a power indicator on the right side of the laptop. both illuminate for a few secs then off.
there's also a separate light when the AC is plugged in.
yes, tried with just the AC without battery connected - no difference
just tried the HDMI - nothing showing on the external screen. tbh the power light is only on for 3-4s so doesn't feel like enough time for the screen to show.
Looking at a friend's laptop, model 13-d002na which will not boot, even to BIOS..
When the power button is pressed, it lights up but nothing else happens. A few seconds later it goes out, apparently powered off. No screen, no beeps.
We tried a 'hard reset' by removing the battery/ power/...
hi Harry, thanks for the reply.
the DIR shows the internet is connected and has an external IP address, so I believe it is operating correctly.
using the DIR allows me (among other things) to set up dyndns and port forwarding for an OpenCloud server that I'm running (this is working as expected...
hi all,
recently we were upgraded to VDSL and sent a new TalkTalk HG635 modem. this works but I wanted to use a separate router to handle the home network traffic and DHCP for address reservation + better WiFi. so have bought a DIR-878 for this.
I have the HG635 in bridge mode with DHCP turned...
hi,
we have a double dimmer switch in the conservatory that I'd like to replace with simple switches.
it is wired as per the attached photos.
do I need to buy any special kind of 2 gang switch?
is the wiring straight forward to swap to the new switch?
many thanks.
thanks for the info - would this do the job?

the 3-pin option.
hi all,
we have an outdoors socket which we want to power a heater for our guinea pig hutch, only the power lead on the heater is too short. I can cut the lead and add a longer lead with new plug of course, but is there something I should use for the join in the wires since it will be outside...
hi all,
I'm considering changing my home network setup and moving away from the ISP-supplied modem/ router combo (DSL-3780) and buying a separate router (poss Asus RT-N66U).
due to the positioning of the phone socket, the modem and router would ideally be in separate rooms. so I have a...
just to follow up, I bought the T9600 and upgraded the CPU without a problem. BIOS showed the updated info on the next boot.
to be safe I had updated to the latest BIOS firmware beforehand.
thanks for the help guys.
