hi all,
we have an outdoors socket which we want to power a heater for our guinea pig hutch, only the power lead on the heater is too short. I can cut the lead and add a longer lead with new plug of course, but is there something I should use for the join in the wires since it will be outside?

the join would be inside the hutch, so not exposed to the elements.

thanks for any advice.

Taylor,
I think you may have missed that the junction you suggested is only 2 core and has no ground connection (which I would expect a heater to have).
Would this 3 core version be a better recommendation?:

(although as you said, I would be very wary of doing this anyway with respect to pets, kids, being outside, and subsequent damaged cables.)
