    Bathroom fan - permanent live

I'm moving the fan from one side of the room to the other and the switched live would be easy from a nearby fitting, the permananent one wouldn't be easy - but there is an unused fused spur there too. Thanks for the replies - I will have to find a way to get the permanent live from the...

    Bathroom fan - permanent live

Can I use a fused spur from a ring main for the permanent live on a bathroom fan and still have the switched live and neutral coming from the lighting circuit, or would that be a bad thing to do?

    Oil pipe diameter

Sorry Boilerman2, my mistake, the original post in that thread said that the OP had already acquired a tigerloop; I assumed that you were offering advice based on using that rather than suggesting he spent more money. I didn't think I was mis-quoting you. :?

    Oil pipe diameter

It certainly wont be the OFTEC installer who put the existing Tigerloop inside the house.

    Oil pipe diameter

Tamz, thanks for that - very intelligent comment, I have already read the Tigerloop leaflet, the reason I asked this question is that Boilerman2 recommended a non return valve in this thread; //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1781102#1781102 based on the details of the installation...

    Oil pipe diameter

Thanks for the replies everyone, would you recommend putting a non return valve at the tank end of the pipe or is it unnecessary?

    Oil pipe diameter

I am fitting a new oil tank which will be 2.25 m below the burner. I was going to use 10mm o/d pipe but the tiger loop information says that 4mm i/d pipe would be sufficient and warns against using pipe with too large a diameter. Am I OK using 10mm (8.8mm i/d) or is it likely to cause problems...

    Tigerloop fittings

I am about to replace my Tigerloop (which has been fitted inside) with a Tigerloop Bio. The connections to/from the old one are made up of a variety of different fitings and I was wondering what are the correct fittings to use; 1/4" taper or parallel, and should I use PTFE tape on them or...

    Programmable thermostat?

I dont really understand why these aren't more common. Is the Honeywell CM927 meant to be used in conjunction with a 2 channel programmer or is it meant just for combi boilers?

    Programmable thermostat?

I forgot to mention I am looking for a wireless stat. Am I trying to do something out of the ordinary or have I got the wrong end of the stick - I am looking for time & temp control for the heating and just time for the HW?

    Programmable thermostat?

I am looking at upgrading the controls on my central heating. I currently have a fully pumped heating & hw system with a programmer & TRVs, no room stat. I am thinking of installing a programmable room stat and replacing the programmer and thought that something like a Honeywell CM927 would be...

    Noisy TRVs

Thanks very much for all your input, I now have a plan; new boiler stat, fit a room stat, and rebalance the whole system from scratch. I have been thinking about where the room, stat should go; I have quite a big L shaped hall, one branch of which goes through the middle of the house and has no...

    Noisy TRVs

I have just checked the last readings I took and the boiler thermostat cuts off when the flow temp is 87C and cuts back in when it is 54C, return varies between 43C & 51C, do you think my boiler thermostat is knackered? If so can I fit a room stat and turn the boiler stat up to full, or should I...

    Noisy TRVs

The boiler is a Trianco Iona 100/125 and I do have the manual, its exactly the same as this http://www.trianco.co.uk/pdf/contractorflooroil.pdf but with a different burner. I dont have a room stat and the boiler is cutting in & out while I am balancing. I think I may have to go back to square...

    Noisy TRVs

Should I use the average temperatures to calculate the boiler differential or the peak temperatures? (Either way it isnt 11 C at the moment)
  16. G

    Noisy TRVs

Is the boiler differential the difference between flow & return temps or the variation in flow temp? The flow temp varies as the boiler cuts in & out (between about 85°C and 60°C) and the return varies between about 45 & 55°C. There is no bypass valve fitted, the only bypass is a rad in the...

    Noisy TRVs

The boiler is a Trianco Iona, oil fired. Pump is an Alpha plus (fixed & variable speeds). The pump was set in the centre of the variable range and is now about 3/4 of the way round the range. I balanced the valves per the advice generally available on the web; TRVs fully open (but with heads...

    Noisy TRVs

I think both types I have fitted are bi-directional.

    Noisy TRVs

Hi, I am balancing the heating system in the house I have just bought, I have increased the pump setting (Grundfos Alpha) to get a 12°C drop at the rad furthest from the boiler but I am now getting quite a lot of noise from some of the other TRVs. The TRVs are a mixture of Pegler Terrier & Myson...
