Grohe Blue drinking water filter - problem with shut off

I've a Grohe Blue water filter system and i've had a problem since installation with shut off. The tap doesnt work in the normal way but triggers a solenoid on the input side of the filter cartridge which switches off the flow. The problem is that after the tap is turned to off, the water keeps...

self levelling compound - seal or not to seal ?

I've had self leveling compound down now for a couple of weeks, it's covering wet underfloor heating. People have been walking over it and there is some dust buildup. Do I need to seal the floor prior to laying porcelain tiles or is it ok as it is ? Obviously cleaning the dust off first. What...

    Miele Freezer F1365S too warm

Hello, After moving my freezer a short distance, I inadvertantly placed my hand on the buttons whilst the power was still on and now, although the freezer displays -16, the temperature is dropping and is starting to defrost. I think I may have entered a service mode by pressing several of the...

Most cost efficient, rads or balanced flue wall heaters ?

Thanks John, but the insulation is a constant, I'm asking what is the most efficient heating method, a rad or the baxi ? She has all the insulation that the council 'warm front' initiative gave her a few years back, so would the cheapest method of heating the house be rads or staying with the...

Most cost efficient, rads or balanced flue wall heaters ?

My mother has a Baxi Brazilia balanced flue wall heater in each room of a small bungalow. She also has recently installed a combi boiler for hot water and 1 rad in the bathroom. Will it be more economical in heating costs if I replace the old wall heaters with conventional rads run from the new...

ion exchange water softener and effects on chrome

I could understand faulty chrome plating if one tap or one fitting could be stained, but it seems like all chrome fittings are affected. The chrome still sparkles when polished, but like I said, it has slight dark imperfections.

ion exchange water softener and effects on chrome

Hello, Ever since I fitted a water softener, I've noticed small dark stains appearing in chrome fittings, taps, shower etc that cant be removed, they are barely visible but it's as if they are embedded within the chrome itself. The taps are HansGrohe, so not exactly poor quality. I wonder if...

Vaillant ecoTEC pro 24 service code s.39

It's fixed now, apparently it was a loose connection on the PCB. I guess i'll have to take his word for it.

Vaillant ecoTEC pro 24 service code s.39

I posted the issue on here for a wider viewing in case someone knew of a similar or known problem occurring on this particular boiler that could be fixed simply. The slope on the pipe is about 20degrees, but yes, there could be a blockage. My installer is coming back later in the week.

Vaillant ecoTEC pro 24 service code s.39

Hi Tony, I guess there is a condensate pump as a component bundled in with the boiler as default. I can see the condensate pipe feeding into the soil stack after about 2 metres. Nothing unusual about the install although it is installed in the attic against an external wall.

Vaillant ecoTEC pro 24 service code s.39

Hello, Just had a Vaillant installed 2 weeks ago and all was working fine until it displayed a "spanner" symbol. Now it wont work with either heating or DHW. The service code displayed on the lcd display shows S.39 which, according to the manual is 'Burner off contact has triggered'. No fault...

Miele T650C tumble dryer tripping out RCD

Thanks Zipper, without your advice i would have never guessed how to access the element. I had to remove the 6 screws around the edge of the disc and then, as you said, line up the holes in the centre part to access the 2 allen bolts. I found i had to have the 2 holes aligned horizontal, and...

Miele T650C tumble dryer tripping out RCD

Hello, My tumble drier has always been connected to the 40A kitchen RCD. Just recently, the dryer has been tripping out the circuit when it reaches the heating cycle. If i switch the dryer to cool air only, it's fine. I've tried plugging in to another circuit but get the same result, after...

Vaillant EcoTech+ 831 vs Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior

Hello, I plan to install a combi in a one bed cluster home to supply heating and hot water. I would want the boiler to be installed in the attic against the external wall and controled via a rf remote. Can anyone recommend a suitable boiler with emphasis on reliability ? I've narrowed it down...

    Woodburning stove poor draw

I rang Stovax today, credit to him that he did'nt instantly dismiss my problem as a flue issue. They are going to call me back with a possible site visit, i'll keep this post updated with their findings.

    Woodburning stove poor draw

I understand about flue temperature. Initialy, I build a large fire with kindling which really gets going, producing plently of flames, only when i have a bed of glowing embers do I place larger logs in the fire. Flue temp is not the issue.

    Woodburning stove poor draw

For clarity, i should have said. The stove is shipped with metal plates that can be bolted on, covering the ports which supply air to the stove from its immediate surroundings, i.e. from the room. If an external air suppy is available, then the plates are fitted to stop air being drawn from...

    Woodburning stove poor draw

The stove is shipped with metal plates that can be bolted on if external air is supplied. Air supplied to the stove is not a problem, regardless of the configuration, with plates installed or not, the draw is still inadequate with the airwash system in place. As a further test, i have run the...
