Because I thought pumps should be in the vertical position because something to do with air being trapped and it's not good for the pump.

I have this make of pump on my heating system which has been installed horizontal for about 5 years, its been working fine. However I was told by a friend it shouldv'e been installed vertically. Does it really matter? Thanks
