    Tiling on to wooden stud

I am trying to finish off a tiling job in our bathroom and don't really know how best to do it. The tricky bit ( in my mind) is the stud wall reveal. The tiles cover the face of the stud wall (which is plasterboard) but I am not sure how to get around the edge of the timber stud. Can I tile...

    Feeding draw rope into ducting

I am having to lay 50 meters of 50mm ducting for our new electricity supply. The DNO (Western Power) have kindly given me 100 metres and have told me to cut to length and to thread a draw rope. I have never done anything like this and have 2 questions- 1. what's the best/easiest way to...

    upgrading electricity connection

Thanks for the replies and good advice. We have had a few tinternet problems over the holidays so sorry for the delay in responding. Malc of Arabia- we asked the DNO about moving our fuse box and meter, along with a small reroute of the incoming cable. During a site visit they instantly...

    upgrading electricity connection

Western Power tell us that we need to upgrade our power supply from them. We have bought an old semi in the wilds and are installing a heat pump, apparently we need a better electricty supply. Whilst we don't feel able to argue about it, the cost is going to be around £1800, even with me...

can I make a shed floor 500 mm below ground level?

We are renovating a house and have gone for the eco friendly ground source heat pump. We were told that the thermal store (hot water tank) would be the same size as a domestic fridge freezer- but today we find that it is actually 2500 mm tall. We dont have anywhere with enough clearance to...

Fitting new toilet to old soil pipe

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The flexible connector looks really useful. I will have a look at a low level pan and how it will work out with the flexible connector and possibly some boxing. Thanks again.

Fitting new toilet to old soil pipe

thanks for the photo, i have seen the pan connector with boss as shown but fitting one of these would leave the toilet around 23 cm away from the wall. Is it possible to link flexi or other pipes underneath or to the side of the pan so that the toilet will be against the wall?

Fitting new toilet to old soil pipe

I am looking to replace the broken toilet in our outhouse and add a wash-basin as we might have to live there for a while. I have been looking for a pan connector with a boss for the sink drain but cant find one that would allow a modern toilet with a horizontal outflow to join the soil pipe...
