    Shower not draining

Thanks, I'll give it a go. There might be an issue in that the blockage, if it is a blockage, is someway along the pipe, so will this reach a relatively long distance. Worth trying though.

    Shower not draining

Issue with a non-draining shower. It's an upstairs shower which does not drain well and if you carried on running the shower it would eventually overflow the tray. I had assumed it was partially blocked so did some pretty aggressive plunging, but nothing nasty came up. What's odd about it is...

    Dead Nest E thermostat

A quick update as I've just checked online with google and it is covered under warranty despite having been free and not installed for 18 months. Google have gone up in my estimation!

    Dead Nest E thermostat

No problem and thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, it came free with a new boiler (from Mr central heating) which was purchased about 18 months ago, but I will try contacting google and see what they can do.

    Dead Nest E thermostat

The thermostat is just dead. When I first plugged it in a few weeks ago when I first installed it, it didn't work, but after a couple of hours it came to life and has worked fine until today. The heating can be turned on through pressing the centre button on the heatlink that's installed next to...

    Dead Nest E thermostat

I recently installed a Nest E which worked fine once the battery on the base unit had been charged up. However the thermostat has stopped working in that it's just dead. Its powered via USB and the charger is working as I've checked it with another device, but the cable is hardwired so cant tell...

Main heating not working, but everything else does.

Thanks for the advice. It does seem straightforward so hopefully I can do it without needing further help!

Main heating not working, but everything else does.

I'll do the switch first as too much going on at the moment. It's a Nest Thermostat E which I have a look at after Christmas. I assume they are relatively straight forward to instal? Many thanks for your help.

Main heating not working, but everything else does.

Brilliant, thanks as did what you suggested and boiler fired up, motorised valve opened and radiators now warming up! The boiler and valves are only 18 months old so pleased that they are working. Not sure of the age of the digistat as was installed before we bought the house. I have a Nest...

Main heating not working, but everything else does.

Issue with main radiator heating. The system has two 2 motorised valves one for radiators and the other the underfloor heating. Underfloor and hot water work fine. Initially with the rads when calling for heat the pump would run but the boiler did not fire up. Checked the motorised valve and...

    sealing/repairing blown worktop

Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. Where is the "lack of sealant" and what is the splash hitting? There shouldn't be any sealant visible in either of the two photos, nor is any part of the sink visible. All the photos show is the worktop and the drawer front. Water has simply spilled...

    sealing/repairing blown worktop

Yes it is a square edged worktop with a factory fitted strip, so at least I can't say it's been bodged by me! The worktop is level and the sink is just used in the usual way so it's not been exposed to more water than normal.

    sealing/repairing blown worktop

Because its completely dry everywhere else, there is absolutely no evidence of water leaking from anywhere and the supplier agreed. Here is another photo which might make it clearer. For the record it's an Ikea worktop.

    sealing/repairing blown worktop

Thanks for the advice and I'll do that with some clear silicone. I am surprised as well, as surely they should be designed to cope with some water spilling over the edge. Just to clarify the water damage was caused by water dripping over the front edge of the worktop.

    sealing/repairing blown worktop

I installed a kitchen worktop last year and underneath on the front edge it has blown where the sink is. I have had a partial refund from the company who supplied it, but I'm now looking to seal it to prevent it getting any worse and I'd be grateful for advice on what to use. I did use silicone...

    LED power supply

Many thanks for the replies. Is there some symbol on the power supply that states if it's a regulated/constant voltage and not supplying a constant current?

    LED power supply

I have a set of these LED strip lights which you can cut into lengths https://www.screwfix.com/p/bendable-5m-led-tape-light-10w-1200lm/959fx But only one power supply. It's rated at 12v 1a, so I was wondering can I use any power supply that is 12v and at least 1a, or is there a specific type...

    Kitchen lights

Thanks for the reply. It is an issue about having to replace the whole unit and I've had good look on the internet and I can't find any kitchens which have this type.

    Kitchen lights

Not sure this is the right board for this, but I'm looking for advice on kitchen down lights. We are having a large kitchen/ family room extension built (7.2m by 7.2m) and will be having downlights. I was planning on the standard size GU10 led equivalent, but our electrician has suggested these...
