Evening all, We are in process of moving house and viewed quite a lot. Favorite at the minute that we are offering on has a sort of loft conversion over the garage that is being used. The ceiling height is quite low so we would like to extend this into a full scale extension master suite with...

Hi all - just after some advice. I am working away and leaving my UK house empty for a while. I have taken appropriate insurance cover for this, but one of the terms requires that either the heating be left on constant at 15 degrees C between Oct and April OR the main water stopcock is turned...

    Retaining driveway wall

Thanks guys We had the wall built as a replacement about three years ago as the other was very damaged and bricks had their faces falling off from frost. If I remember correctly the old wall had gaps in for weeping. Our garden which is about 5ft away from the wall is always sodden after...

    Removing Stripped Cap Heads

Just as an update, finally got round to doing this job. I managed to get all the stripped heads out by forcing in the square nut of an Irwin screwdriver. Don't know why I didn't use my trusty Irwin before - it's never let me down yet! One was too far gone though and after trying various...

    Removing Stripped Cap Heads

Hi all, We have some light fittings recessed into the patio / drive. They take GU10 LED lamps. The front is held on with 3mm cap head screws. Two of the three screws in this one have failed and I've managed to strip them. Any suggestions on getting them out? I looked at a screw removal...

What are these / how's it done?

Thanks, I had looked at these but they were much much smaller. They protrude the surface of the ceiling about 20mm and the circumference is no greater than a pencil.

    Sterling 10 Programming

Hi, Trying to re-program a neighbours Sterling 10. There are two problems: a) They only have the Limited User (User 2) code, not the master.A lthough it seems like the Master user doesn't allow reprogramming. b) We want to edit Set B so it excludes one more zone than is currently in...

    Grub Screw Size?

It's from a lighting set from ikea which they have discontinued. The grub screw pierces the 12v cable and names connection for the lamp. I an see screws cheap enough on ebay but just unsure on size. Tried ikea, they had none which is a shame as they've been great in the past.

    Easy to crack wifi

Hiding your SSID does nothing. WPA is virtually uncrackable with the exception of a dictionary attack. So make your key something more inventive than the name of your kids. I have taken WPA and WEP networks before (in a lab), WEP takes minutes, don't use it Neil

I was missing a part off a door from Ikea, and due to lots of things going on we ended up leaving it over a year. It was only for a soft close. Went back to Ikea, the lady on the returns desk found the part I needed, put the number into the computer and had it sent direct from Sweeden...
