    Moving a stopcock

Thanks There is a ballvalve further down the line which is easily accessible, so the ability to isolate the supply quickly is not my main issue. The main reason for wanting to move the pipes is give better clearance for the WM, but the missus would go ape if the shower pressure dropped as a result.

    Moving a stopcock

I'd like to have a stopcock moved as it is located right behind the washing machine. My plan was to get a plumber to relocate the water pipe below the floor boards (access void under floor), and then present the stopcock under the sink cupboard somewhere. The reason is to allow more space...

    Double dimmer switch

I'll probably just stick with what's there and find 2 new pull-chord lights. No matter how much you plan out a rewire, there's always something after which you didn't consider. Thanks again for the feedback and keeping it safe. Cheers

    Double dimmer switch

Thanks mate, that basically answers my question. I'll have to break the news gently to the Mrs and tell her to forget the new fancy wall lights. Cheers

    Double dimmer switch

Thanks for getting back. Yes, the wall lights are controlled via the switched FCU. I was thinking of replacing the FCU with either a double switch / dimmer to independently control both wall lights. If this would only be possible with additional wiring, then I'll probably just stick with...

    Double dimmer switch

Hi Folks Recently had full rewire, but would like a minor alteration. Scenario is, I have a rear extension which has 2 x pull chorded wall lights on opposite walls. There is a master switch (fused) on the middle wall. The 2 existing wall lights are old fashioned and would like to replace...

    Shower Wall Treatment

Thanks for the feedback guys - much appreciated. On more question: If I decide to batten the walls, is there a standard thickness of batten. Reason being, I'd like to slightly "box" my bath in from the walls, but not too much. I've read 38mm somewhere, but on one of the walls that would cover...

    Shower Wall Treatment

I have ripped out all the old tiles around my bath with the intention of retiling and also to have a shower installed. 2 of the surrounding walls are brick, and the other wall is stud. All walls are now pretty scabby with chunks of plaster missing all over them. I intend to cover all 3...

    Moving Cooker Switch

How are you intending to connect the armoured cable to the steel conduit and the existing wires? I was planning on feeding the armoured cable into the existing armoured ducting as far back as the nearest steel junction box. Then either solder the live and neutrals together or use a terminal...

    Moving Cooker Switch

I need to move my cooker switch by about 1 foot in order to create space to fit a cooker hood. The existing switch cabling is buried into the wall and is protected by steel tube ducting. My question is: Can I use armoured cabling (10mm thick which will be buried into the wall of course)...
