Replacing an EPH Ember with a Drayton Wiser Kit 3

Worked a charm, thanks guys. I DID replace the back panel as I thought my OCD would annoy me having a white backplate and a black programmer... before I realised you couldn't actually see it once the programmer goes back on. Oh well, it kept me quiet for a bit...

Replacing an EPH Ember with a Drayton Wiser Kit 3

I'd appreciate some advice on the following setup. I currently have an EPH Ember "smart" system consisting of 2 heating zones (combi boiler so no water) and two wireless thermostats. I'd like to replace it with the Drayton Wiser Kit 3. The EPH wiring looks like this: which looks like this...

    Sealing area around pipe

Cheers Andy, do I need to back it with anything first or just spray the pipe with water so that it sticks?

    Sealing area around pipe

We have a lean-to which contains a bathroom (I think it was previously an external bathroom but that the lean-to was built around it). We also keep our washing machine in there. I was installing a new washing machine drain when I noticed that the waste pipe drops drops down to the drain under...

    Plasterboarding bathroom advice

We have a downstairs bathroom that has seen better days, built in an extension which, our surveyor said, isn't great quality and should eventually be pulled down. We do plan to do this, but it will probably be 5 or so years before we're able to afford to replace it with something better. So, in...

    Repairing holes in bathroom wall

Hi @bobasd, Thanks for your response. The skim plaster was shelling off, I removed all the loose bits so what's left is all adhered firmly. I've also checked around the room and the rest all seems fine. I'm wondering whether it might have been because there hasn't ever been an extractor fan...

    Repairing holes in bathroom wall

I've been removing some nails from the bathroom wall and it's made a bit of a mess of the finish. It's damaged the skim plaster and - in a lot of cases - the blockwork underneath. I was just wondering how best to fill those holes: should I use rapid set cement to fill the blockwork and then a...

Do you have your "pizza express style" recipe handy? Mine always come out like crackers :)

    Home assistant / hassio

Yeah I'm using this. It's a bit of a pain to set up - the config is fragmented between config files and a web UI - but there is a good community around it and device support is pretty decent. What are you planning to do?

Intergas Rapid 32... THUD! Noise when hot water is running

We had our heating system replaced in March with a combi boiler system. It's all been working fine. About 9 weeks ago, I replaced a faulty kitchen tap with a mixer. Again, it's all been working fine until now. This morning, when running the hot water past a certain strength, there is now a THUD...

    Tiling shower

Hi guys, I know it's an old favourite and, having read through most of the posts on the subject and the tiling sticky, I'm 99% sure I know how to proceed but there are a couple of points I wanted to confirm :D I'm also young and inexperienced (so far) so go easy on me - thanks chaps :D...

    Thermostatic Power Shower

Sweet - I ran the shower on cold today and it started refilling from the tank so I think its safe to say its tank fed :-) Also measured the shower flow - on cold it took 25 seconds to fill a 1.5L bottle, so I'm going to hazard approx. 3.3L a minute (though I guess it will be less when hot is...

    Space under stairs

Hi guys Hope you all had a great x-mas and new year :D I've got a space under my stairs that is currently being used as an office/junk store: I'd really like to make this into some kind of storage cupboard - perhaps with the left half being shelved (for stationary, my wifes craft...

    Thermostatic Power Shower

Hi guys, Thanks for your replies - I've been sans internet/time for the last couple of weeks so apologies for being slow getting back to you. I'm 99% sure that the cold water is fed from the attic tank as the pressure in the shower (when using cold alone) is nothing like that from the...

    Thermostatic Power Shower

Hi guys, Can anyone recommend a good thermostatic power shower? We've got a gravity-fed system and its shocking, would like something with a little more ooomph! It should be reasonably simple to install as we've got the hot and cold already running to the shower unit so will only need to...

Replacing ceiling rose with a halogen strip (problem)

Apologies - it should have read 20 Ohm  I'm pretty sure I followed your instructions to the letter (connect earth and black at the switch end, then test each black with the earth at the other) and those were the readings I got... very strange :(

Replacing ceiling rose with a halogen strip (problem)

Hi Riveralt, I tried what you suggested - I used the multimeter in 20OHM setting and the readings were as follows: 1 - 01.3 2 - 00.5 3 - 1 (1) was the one that I thought was the switched live to start with. Not sure why two of them are giving me a reading though? Thanks
