    Chalet en suite

Thanks Dan, I'll look at bigger heaters (any pointers?). Also I'll find out about pressure & supply size, and post again if I get stuck. GW

    Chalet en suite

Thanks... regarding pressure and supply size, I don't know. Would I get this from the water board? Heaters I've looked at are Rinnai REU58 and Morco D61E, but I fear they may not be suitable to supply a bath. I'm in the very early stages, so haven't really thought too deeply about it all, just...

    Chalet en suite

Hi... I'm in the planning stage of building an en suite onto a wooden chalet in the garden. I want to put a bath in there, and intend to use an LPG water heater because of electrical load problems with an immersion heater. Also there's no room for water storage. My question is, how well would...

    Festool TS55 EBQ

Hi... has anyone any experience with these saws? I cut MFC and melamine-faced MDF in my business, and wonder what the cut edge is like in those materials. All the reviews I've seen say it gives an excellent cut both sides in timber, but MFC is surely the ultimate test! Thanks, GW

    removing a picture rail 'cleanly'

I agree, the best way of getting it off is to split it & pull the nails. Also - in a lot of older houses the rail was fixed before the wall was plastered (can't think why) so when you take it off, you'll probably get the plaster above not being flush with the plaster below... if you...

    Best Song

John - the question was "What's the best song in the world?" not "What's your favourite song?" As I've already said, the best song in the world is Brighton Rock, by Queen (original version, from Sheer Heart Attack) :D :D

    Hobbies.

Oh dear, the sensitivity of the creative!! Joe, I've just listened to the first two (I have the slowest dial-up on the planet) & in my opinion I think you've done well... the Rodrigo is always difficult because of its slowness. The guitar has probably been my greatest hobby for the...

How to cut an 80mm circle in a piece of wood/MDF

Craig - if you manage to find an 80mm hole cutter, please let me know... I've been looking off & on for the past year!

Worktop mitre - left to right???

I can only think it means that the rotating cutter must 'bite' into the good edge, not run along it like a wheel... which means moving it in the correct direction. "Left to right" is confusing, as most people chop & change to suit the situation. It shouldn't matter of course, because the cutter...

    Warping

c00 - I see you've used 20mm finish boards. Would it be possible for the jointed panels to be thinner? If so, take them to a joiner with a panel sander and have them sanded flat - if you're lucky you may end up with 15 or 16mm, especially as you jointed them correctly (end grains opposite ways)...

    Warping

Hear, hear. Small section softwood is not of the quality to stay flat these days (unless you pay a lot for the best redwood)... wrapping it in film or leaving it on the rack in a timber yard hardly prepares it for a centrally-heated environment! It's always best, but not always possible, to...

    Synthetic Oil

Thanks. I've just put in fully-synthetic 5/40, but have a few litres of semi 10/40 (which I used to use) & wondered if I could mix them for the next change... but perhaps I won't after all. Can I deep-fry chips in it?

    Synthetic Oil

Can someone tell me if it's ok to mix fully synthetic 5/40 with semi-synthetic 10/40? The car is a Mégane 1.6 16v.
