Did the Electrician Cause Flickering Lights?

Suppose I put a normal switch on and it doesn't flicker. Does that mean that I need to change the switch or the bulbs? The switch is part of a whole smart hub system (Lightwave) so it's not much of an option. JH

Did the Electrician Cause Flickering Lights?

ok, I ordered some new dimmable GU10 bulbs from Amazon and changed them with what I had. Now I have a different problem. If I set the brightness to 100%, then it flickers every second or so. If I reduce it to 95%, it flickers less often. If I set it to below 90%, it doesn't seem to flicker...

Ok great, any idea what the issue could be and how I could remedy it? Is it something I can do or would I need an electrician? JH

Did the Electrician Cause Flickering Lights?

I asked an electrician to come and replace my consumer unit and tidy up some wires. He came and replaced it with a fusebox unit. Then, because of a continuity fault somewhere, he checked all the sockets in my kitchen, one by one. Couldn't find the fault. But he tested them for safety and signed...

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

My fused spur feeds about 5 wires into the junction box. So I take it one of them is live and one is neutral, right? i can detect a live wire. How do I detect a neutral? JH

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

Out of all the wires going into and out of the junction box, will there only be one live wire? JH

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

Ah, that makes more sense. So the next step in the puzzle would be to locate the Live and Neutral. Are there any suggestions as to the steps I can take to locate them? I have a Multimeter. JH

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

I followed those two wires in the image and they go directly to the existing old thermostat on the wall. If I disconnect them from the Junction box, then its simply a wire to the old thermostat with no power from anywhere.

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

I cant just replace the old thermostat with the new relay because someone here pointed out that the relay takes 5 wires and the old thermostat will probably have 2 wires only. Otherwise, I could have just taken the old thermostat off the wall and used the same wiring to connect the relay there...

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

In my image, I have identified the two wires going from the junction box to the existing old thermo. I just need clarification on this point: Are those wires any use to me, since they connect from the box to the thermo. If I hook them into the relay, the relay would be connected to the thermo...

Connecting a Wireless Relay to Boiler

But those wires currently run from the old thermostat to the junction box. How can they have any power if I connect them to the new relay at the junction box. The relay would simply be connected to the old thermostat without any power. JH
