Another option would be to fit a wooden frame to the brickwork. This would allow more attachment points and therefore spread the load rather than the GardenTrellies method of fixing the posts directly with resin anchors. Bit like this.

Cos door casings are planed wood and planed is always undersize. Quoting the nominal un planed size.
The theory is that planing can remove different depths, so a nominal size is quoted. But in real life the machine just takes off a set amount, so it's big Con.

B, yep that's the plan. Laminate now fitted. I've got some detail work to do in other room so will make up the beading then. Slim L profile seems unobtrusive.
