Mix to get rid of green algae on slabs?

Just because you can, it doesnt mean you should. When you get wash paving you they have to kiln all the joints again and potentially seal them all again. Its not just a case if jetwashing if you want to do it right. Im not asking of ways to clean block paving, I'm asking for solution mix to use...

Mix to get rid of green algae on slabs?

I try to avoid jet washing at all costs. Especially block pavers. This was also the advice from the company who laid our block paving. They can take the top layer off and then more stuff starts to grow on it

Mix to get rid of green algae on slabs?

Slabs, gravel boards and paving stones are going green. I know diluted bleach in a spray bottle kills it but just wondering if I should add anything else. Sure someone once told me to add soda (presumably costic soda) Thanks

Galaxy 12 - user reset alert

Elderly couple down the road from me have just moved into a new house (their the first owners) and asked me to help the change the alarm code - no issue there. However upon trying to set the alarm for them (which they have never previously been able to do) I keep getting a user reset alert...

Sleeper retaining wall and fence help

That's what I thought. I was intending just to initially secure the posts with some post mix to keep them in place and then order a few cubic metres of wet cement and fill the rest. Even if if only filled the cavity up a foot or two I figured it would be stronger. Or as you say, just do a lean...

Sleeper retaining wall and fence help

Thanks. I guess I was trying to work out if I just secure the posts or fill the whole cavity with cement and possibly rebar. In my head I am thinking it will make the wall stronger and the posts more secure but obviously going to be another couple of hundred pound to do that

Sleeper retaining wall and fence help

The posts are custom built out of metal box section. They won't last forever but as long as I get 20 years out of them I will be happy.

Sleeper retaining wall and fence help

I had a bit of land dug out and built a sleeper retaining wall with support beams every 2M. I will now be putting a 7ft fence on top, the posts will drop in the gap between the wall and soil. The post legs to where the fence starts will be slightly longer than the wall itself. My question is...

Possible leak between water meter and house

Concrete floor with 15mm copper pipe coming out. Will check the meter but got washer running at the minute so a bit pointless

Possible leak between water meter and house

The bricks below the damp course have become wet and this is spreading horizontally. As of yet it's not gone above. There is no water internally and there is no water in the stop tap which as you can see is quick close. I've lifted the slab up and the sand doesn't feel soden. Really not sure...

    Strongest gravel boards?

using gravel boards to make a 3.5ft retaining wall. Apart from the weight of the soil, there will be no additional load. Just wondered if there is any strength difference between the rock face boards and the plain ones as they are the same price for me

    Lights for sleeper wall

Seriously doubt they are oak... I'm not that rich. Lights are Apollo led deck lights on screwfix. Would post link but can't remember if it's allowed on here

    Lights for sleeper wall

I ended up going with the small spot lights from screwfix and the look great. Tooked the transformers into an IP rated box and ran the cables behind the sleepers.

Water meter not working (no display)

Thats the issue, if I fiddle and cant fix it they will accuse me of tampering at which point it will cost me a lot more :(

Water meter not working (no display)

Thank you - that is good to know. The cable goes to a small box on the outside wall. I always assumed this was for them to take meter readings remotely. The 2016 must be the expiration date as its been there as long as we have which is about 10 years. You are correct it is their problem, but I...

Water meter not working (no display)

Thanks. There has been no significant change to the flow rate and we have quite good pressure but I might do some test with full flow

Water meter not working (no display)

Our water supplier has contacted us to say they couldn't get a reading from our meter. The water meter sits inside the building and has a digital dial, upon checking I could see that no digits are showing. Is there anyway to bring it back to life or test it? I am assuming they draw their...

    380V on/off switch for powertools

Definitely a lock on switch. My 1/2" router has spring loaded switch which is why I chose to use the 1/4" one for this job instead. Didn't fancy zip tying the trigger down on the other one (joking before someone gets upset)

    380V on/off switch for powertools

This is for me, in my garage solely for minimal personal use (in fact to do one job). The router is 240v plug in tool that I am building to be detachable so the plug will remain. Basically what I want to create is something like this, however for this one job I really cant justify spending £50...
