Due to redundancy it looks like we're moving over to Manchester. I've been offered something pretty central but presume the further you are from the centre, the cheaper it is, with regards to house prices. Any suggestions on areas to avoid/look at? Signed up with these for now...

The house is late 60s. I thought that for this kind of thing you don't need planning permission if you're not changing the exterior of it, making it bigger etc.

I want to convert our garage into a kind of games room for the kids. Is this something I need planning permission for? I keep reading different things, like needing two exits, things like that so if anyone's done something similar some advice would be good. I'm going to use this to get a quote...

ericmark, Could it be to do with the size of the image? It's pretty large so it could be slowing things up. I've been with http://website.1and1.co.uk/how-to-build-a-website for a couple of months and haven't had any major issues. (Also, as a fan of time pieces, that picture is great!)
