    Ripping out Plasterboard - Asbestos?

Hi, I'm currently removing some plasterboard wall panels because of a mould contamination in the flat. I'm pretty sure they were fitted after 1981. Should I be concered about any possible asbestos? Thanks Edit: The brand is gyproc , if that helps.

Help fixing border damaged wall (pics)

The aftermath of removing a border: http://imgur.com/T2ugRpe It goes across the whole room. I was thinking I should use something like pollyfiller to fix this plasterboard wall but wanted to get a second opinion on a possible alternative/easier way of doing it. Thanks.

Cold air & walls + heating = Mould?

Hi, Some of the walls in my flat are extremely cold, yet there's no visable condensation on my windows. I know it can take less humidity to grow mould than to than to cause condensation...Which has me worried.. I air the flat out often but I've read about how just having the heating on +...

    Rough estimate for plasterboard replacement?

I've taken the old stuff off myself as it was caked in mould and is uncleanable. I'm hoping to replace it with mouisture resistant plaster which I will be buying myself. The wall is about 9.5 feet high, and about 9 across, along a stairway, so is pretty awkward to do myself. How much do...

Workman painted straight over mouldy wall

The cause of the problem has been addressed, I'm just worried about the existing mould. You're definately right about the contracting.

Workman painted straight over mouldy wall

With stain block primer without first disinfecting. Council contracted company. I pulled them up about it but they claimed it would stop the mould from coming through. He knew I knew he was wrong when I went into detail about how it should be done. They then said they'll do the rest of my...

    Cleaning a sub-floor.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Getting back to the hardboard floor. I want to clean it to get rid of any mouldy residue from the old carpet. What is the safest way of doing this without causing more dampness and rot? I'm uneasy about wetting a hardboard surface.... Anyone? Thanks

    Cleaning a sub-floor.

Well I was thinking of some basic self adhesive tiles - something quick and easy, but being a bedroom maybe I need something better for sounds/warmth. With there being various types of vinyl, any recomendations? Thanks You should see the 'fitted' kitchen. The last occupant definitely...

    Cleaning a sub-floor.

Hi, I'm ripping out a bedroom carpet to replace it with some vinyl and was wondering about the best way to clean the sub-floor before hand.. The room previously had a small mould and damp problem, hence binning the carpet. See picture of sub-floor. Ideas much appreciated.

    Painting over pollyfilla

How would this be different from pollyfilla? This silk emulsion stinks. wouldn't it just be better to give it a coat of white matt? Thanks

    Painting over pollyfilla

So, You suggest i go over my newly painted two coats of silk with white matt, for soft sheen as the final finish? *Sigh* Isn't all this paint bad for the walls, or doesn't it matter how many coats your wall takes :?

    Painting over pollyfilla

Before giving my walls an undercoat, i had filled over a few holes and cracks. Two coats of white silk later, the white pollyfilla patches still show through. They are vauge, but still show. I really don't want to take the risk of applying my final finish, only to find them still visable. Is...

    Wall Undercoat question

Thanks, one last thing. :) I lightly swipe the paintbrush around the corners & edges, then paint the main walls only to find it needs another coat to match up with the 'darker' edges, or visa versa - leaving me to darken the corners with a brush, resulting in a sloppy mess. I don't think...

    Wall Undercoat question

Well someone got hasty and bought Pure billiant white Silk emulsion for the undercoat. I'm guessing it will be fine to paint a 'soft sheen' over this, or shall i mix it up with the rich matt? Thanks.
