Advise on plumbing and electrics before underfloor heating..

Hey guys, I'm going to be installing underfloor heating with 10cm insulation, topped off with a 5cm screed. The area is just over 35sqm and will have a kitchen, so there will be electrics, water supply and a drain installed. For the drain to work, it obviously needs to be at a slope. The...

    Paid question service?

Sometimes, but often not. Which is fine, no one is being paid for answering questions. But I would be happy to pay someone for their time. Perhaps it is something the admins of the site could look in to implementing.

    Paid question service?

I'm wondering if there is an online service available where you can pay to have your question answered by a certified/experienced builder? Basically like this forum, only a faster answer?

Stud wall or underfloor heating & screed - which first?

Hey everyone, I have a room which I am going to add underfloor heating (so insulation, heating pipes, screed) - but I'm also adding a stud wall onto the existing brick wall to add insulation. I'm wondering which I should do first? I would guess that I should do the stud wall first, so the...

Adding UK sockets on a spur in France

Just spur off the existing plugs. No big deal. I done the same in my workshop here in The Netherlands. I was also sick of using adaptors. If I ever move or sell the house, I'll just replace them with regular EU sockets.

Code flat roof - no space for ventilation?

Hey guys, I'm doing renovations to my old 1905 house in the Netherlands, and I'm running into issues with our flat roof. Basically, our roof has a terrace above. The roof already has flat windows installed, so we cannot have a warm roof as the extra height would be too much for the water to...

Hey guys, I'm doing some renovations on my house and the current project is making a simple drain area. It is a simple rectangle shape. Approximately 120x45x50cm. It will be completely tiled, with a drain at the back. And the bottom will be sloped slightly towards the drain. The problem I...

NEST Thermostat integration to Potterton heater

You probably need to hook up the CH on/off/com to the Nest on/off/com. I had to do this just last week, though my boiler is a bit newer. Just make sure you make sure they are 240v, otherwise you'll need to hook that up to the nest.

    Roof insulation between uneven joists

Because all the heat downstairs is rising and going immediately to the first floor. I would like radiators downstairs, but don't want all the heat rising.

    Roof insulation between uneven joists

Hey guys, I'm currently renovating my garage (which is the ground floor of our terrace house) here in Netherlands. The roof of the garage was boarded up and plastered. MY wife and I love the look of wooden joists, so I removed the plaster (which was horrible) and revealed the joists. I...

Raising and tiling around a drain

Thanks for the reply. I will only be tiling around the drain, yes, in that little rectangle section. The rest of the garage will be covered with something called gietvloeren. I'm not sure what it is called in English. Here is a picture: Here is another drawing of the drain, only with...
