Annoying cracked tile - how to replace

Okay thanks, I'm going to order some S2 adhesive to do the job, and perhaps use 6mm hardie backer/cement board rather than the foam core backer board. And scrap the steel plate idea.

Annoying cracked tile - how to replace

Sorry, they are 8mm. I was going to drill an hole like you said, then use SDS drill (gently) on hammer with a pointy chisel bit to break it up and hopefully get it all up without damaging the others.

Annoying cracked tile - how to replace

Hi all, I have almost completed my bathroom project, which has been a complete back to bare brick renovation. New plumbing, sub floor, electrics, everything. It's fIrst bathroom I've ever done, and the first time I have ever tiled and I'm really pleased with the result other than this one...

Tiles falling off - new build

Dispute aside, I wouldn’t have much confidence in the work carried out to be perfectly honest, long term anyhow. Would it be feasible space wise with your shower screen etc to install shower panels ? Easy to install, look great, much easier to keep clean as no grout lines, and as long as you...

Hansgrohe select thermostatic shower valve temperature query

Gone cold again FFS, removed the valve and opened the isolation screw to check that hot water was getting to the valve….it was, as I’m **** wet though with hot water. So looks like it must be the cartridge, but at 1 month old surely not ?

Hansgrohe select thermostatic shower valve temperature query

Hi all, I recently installed a Hansgrohe select concealed shower valve. I set the max water temperature as per instructions, I set it just over 40 degrees, about 42. The shower has been in use a month or so and was fine. But a few days ago I noticed it wasn’t getting up to temperature, it was...

Tiles falling off - new build

This short video shows how easy it is to apply a tanking kit, and they are only about £50 from screwfix etc. This should be the minimum you do before retiling....

Tiles falling off - new build

Tanking is a waterproof barrier between your tiles and substrate (your walls/floor which can be plaster board, brick, concrete, breeze block etc etc). There are different kits available, some are liquid that you apply like a paint and some are a stick on membrane that comes on a roll. I'm by no...

    Which tile adhesive?

I'm currently laying 60 x 60 porcelain tiles myself, albeit on wood joists with 18mm chipboard floor with 6mm tile backer board. I'm using this adhesive and I'm happy with it as it has a long pot life (up to 8 hours). I find the rapid set far too stressful as I'm only a novice diy tiler. I've...

    Shower Tray Waterproof Upstand Quandry

I seriously doubt that weight would be an issue, I'm currently installing 12mm aquapanel cement boards in my bathroom and they aren't that heavy, the load is vertical so if anything the floor joists are taking the load (presuming it's an house and not a bungalow with a concrete floor). If you...

    Shower Tray Waterproof Upstand Quandry

That's annoying  I'm not a tiler but I can't see why you couldn't do what you suggested and add another 6mm cement board. Other than tear the room apart I can't really think of an alternative option. Looks like you're doing a good job so far, hope you get it sorted (y) Andy

    Worst Tiling Ever??

Been following this with interest, what a bloody nightmare. If that was my daughter, this guys teeth would look worse than his tiliing, that job is just beyond any words how bad it is. I once bought a kitchen from Wickes in my first house 20 odd years ago. I used a fitter who came well...

    Sealing grout in shower area.

I've got a bag in my hand now as it's what I've used on my bathroom including wet room floor. No mention of sealant, just says surfaces ready for use after 24 hours and swimming pools can be filled after 48 hrs.

    Sealing grout in shower area.

I'm not an expert but I'm fairly sure Mapei Ultracolour plus doesn't need sealing ?

Wet room tray tile cut pattern advice

Thanks, and you are indeed correct. I did try this initially but I wasn't pulling hard enough. It took quite an uncomfortable amount of force but eventually the drawer popped, it went with a fair bang and the drawer then came out. It's not something I would like to do on a regular basis, I...

Wet room tray tile cut pattern advice

They are made from chromed plastic, the valve itself inside is brass. Very impressed with all the Hansgrohe stuff so far, though I agree it's not cheap. I did manage to get this shower kit for a very good price on an eBay auction, I paid £700 for the whole kit, brand new, and a bathroom centre...

Wet room tray tile cut pattern advice

It wasn't too bad, my walls arent the most level so I had to do a little faffing. It's 6mm glass, and being frameless it feels a little flimsy if I'm being honest, I wouldn't like to slip and fall full weight into it put it that way. It doesn't help that the strenghening brackets at the top are...

Wet room tray tile cut pattern advice

Getting there now, I won’t show you the opposite side Slightly disappointed with the vanity unit which in a Monza unit from Victorian Plumbing (couldn’t bring myself to pay over £1k for a Villeroy & Boch). It’s nice enough and feels solid, but the sink is siliconed in place, and you cannot...
