    Wifi enabled heating controller

Anyone know of a device that can directly replace an existing heating programmer with the same functions operable remotely via the internet? I'm not looking for a 'hive' system or anything with wireless thermostats, just the ability to switch two channels on or off, remotely. One for hot...

    Chair 'sling' fabric recommendation

Got a feeling that may not be sturdy enough, people have made curtains and dresses out of it. Need something pretty heavyweight.

    Chair 'sling' fabric recommendation

Unfortunately straps - yes webbing - wouldn't work because it needs a continuous piece of material, as I said, a lot like a deckchair. Straps would just pull apart and Granny would fall through!

    Chair 'sling' fabric recommendation

Hi all I have a bentwood armchair which has a 'sling' of material (somewhat like a deckchair) and this supports the cushion and the weight of the sitter. This has ripped and I want to replace it. It's wider than a deckchair, so deckchair material whilst it would be most suitable, is too...

    Rayburn Royal corrosion

Hi all - some thoughts on the subject please - Our Rayburn Royal (solid fuel) is in a holiday let property, and very rarely gets used. It is showing some serious signs of corrosion around the flue box and down the right hand side panel. My questions are:- 1. I assume the likely source of the...

    leaky shower trap

I repeat - The leak is coming from the screw fitting (removable part) - in other words, the part of the trap that should be removable for cleaning out, but isn't, in these less than perfect circumstances. A suggestion as to what kind of external sealant could be used to seal up the leaking...

    leaky shower trap

well hindsight is a wonderful thing. The material below the trap is solid stone flags. The leak is coming from the screw fitting (removable part). The shower tray is on legs, but still lacks enough clearance to remove and replace trap. I know where the leak is - just want some ideas to...

    Replace LPG boiler with electric

Thanks for replies - is it a straight forward job to replace the old back boiler with an Amptec?

    Replace LPG boiler with electric

I have a Baxi LPG fired back boiler - would like to do a straight replacement with an electric boiler. It must run 7 radiators and provide hot water. There is a sensible reason for this - it is in a house let out for holidays and therefore storing fuel is not really convenient. Any...

    leaky shower trap

I have recently fitted a shower and can't stop the trap from oozing. Unfortunately there isn't enough clearance to unscrew the trap bottom and refit - so need an external sealant to stop the leak. I really, really don't want to dismantle my new shower completely!

    Venturi Showers

Hi S again (I've been away this weekend) - I'm after an exposed model with slider rail. Current situation is that plumb centre have promised me one by Wednesday (but not 100% convinced) for £192.00 plus VAT which seems a good price. CI

    Venturi Showers

Hi S - your profile doesn't show your email address (or maybe it's hidden). Problem is I could really do with having the shower by Monday at the latest. Nobody locally seems to have one in stock - all quoting 7 days or more for delivery.

    Venturi Showers

Thanks again S - you're really helpful. I live in the north-east so any supplier between Newcastle and Darlington would do! My initial attempt at ordering was from www.h-i-e-plumbing.co.uk. Cheers CI

    Venturi Showers

Now that I've decided to go ahead with the Trevi Boost shower, I wonder can anyone tell me how it's plumbed in? I may need to do the plumbing prior to actually getting delivery of the shower itself, so I would need to know:- - what kind of connections - size of pipe feeds (15 or 22mm?) -...

    Venturi Showers

Your replies are most informative thankyou! To summarise, I'm intending to do the following, hopefully it'll be OK:- - install a Venturi shower - leave the current hot water storage arrangements as they are, i.e. without cylinder thermostat (there is a room stat) - put in a pressure...

    Venturi Showers

Yes I have a programmer - it's a Potterton with fairly simple settings of once, twice, 24 hours and off and can only be set for the same times every day. While we're on - a plumber acquaintance of mine who admits no experience of the Venturi system, wondered whether the cylinder could be...

    Venturi Showers

....kind of answers the question, except that I don't have a cylinder or immersion stat! Should have, I know, but not sure how easy it is to put one in. Some of these types of showers seem to incorporate a safety cut-out if the temperature gets over a certain level? CI

    Venturi Showers

Thanks S - hopefully my final query! What happens if the hot water gets too hot? There seem to be some maxima with regard to temperature. Regards, Civory

    Venturi Showers

Hi, Thanks for the info - I notice that the Trevi Boost specifies a maximum cold water pressure of 3.0 bar. We've got hot water pressure of 0.3 bar and cold water of 5.8, according to my mains water pressure gauge. Can we use a Venturi shower in this situation? The bottom of the hot...
