Hi all - some thoughts on the subject please -
Our Rayburn Royal (solid fuel) is in a holiday let property, and very rarely gets used. It is showing some serious signs of corrosion around the flue box and down the right hand side panel.
My questions are:-
1. I assume the likely source of the corrosion is moisture in the chimney/flue, which rarely gets dried out because the Rayburn is cold most of the time. Is that a likely cause?
2. Is there any repair that can be done, i.e. replacing corroded parts?
3. If we could get it fixed, what could we do to prevent further problems of a similar nature (given that it is not likely to be used any more frequently in future)
4. Should we simply accept that the situation isn't good for the Rayburn, and offer it for sale?
Any help appreciated!
