    Glass Air Vent - Replace

thank you both, for now, I just need to replace it. Are these standard dimensions or do I need to ensure I measure it? In order to replace it, do I need to access the window from the outside, or is it all done from the inside?

Water Hammering - Bathroom sink + bath

We have a relatively old bathroom upstairs and there's something that bothers me on a daily basis and I'd like to get it fixed. I think it's called water hammering although when I read about water hammering I'm not sure I get the same symptoms/issues I have. The banging noise /(pipes hitting...

Cooker hood ducting at 120mm, reducer 125mm to 100mm

I recently installed a new integrated cooker hood in my kitchen and a handyman ducted it to the outside. Previously the air was recycled into the kitchen. The diameter of the exhaust on the cooker hood is 120mm. The ducting kit we bought is 100mm. We needed a reducer to go from 120mm to 100m...

Can anyone recommend the best stain block for salt damp?

I recently had my 3 bed house redecorated and some damp patches have appeared on the flank wall downstairs. I had a damp specialist (quite well known) come round and he said that the damp I have is what's commonly known as salt damp and that replastering would fix the problem on the inside -...

Is this rising or penetrating damp?

The one in the dining room ( 2 photos), only goes up to the ceiling of the ground floor. It does not continue on the first floor (it was removed by the previous owners). I'm not aware of any ventilation other than what can come out from the actual hole at the bottom. I had a quick look in...

Is this rising or penetrating damp?

Sorry if I'm being naive, but if it is the water from the shed, why is there water on the actual chimney breast itself? I mean that's more of an inner wall insnt it? I dont really understand how damp works or how water travels I am hoping it is that too, but getting the neighbours to move...

Is this rising or penetrating damp?

Not sure if there was a better place to post this. I just had my 3 bedroom house redecorated and soon after doing that I noticed water marks/stains in 3 different places on the ground floor. 2 marks are in the same room, left and right of chimney breast And the other mark is in the living...

    Kitchen tap dripping

After a big fight with the tap, I managed to have it removed. You were right, it is a ceramic disc so I will go to the plumber merchant on Saturday and get a new one. Thanks everyone!

    Kitchen tap dripping

Yes it moves round-about 90 degrees so it is quarter turn. Thanks very much - When I'm home this evening, I will attempt to remove the full cap with WD-40 - I just didn't want to destroy the tap without being too sure - and carry on removing the cir-clips and get the valve off. Luckily...

    Kitchen tap dripping

How would I remove the circular clip? Thank you - I will give it a bit of WD-40 and try to take it out without destroying anything. If it's not a washer and it's a ceramic disc, what do I need to replace then? I thought ceramic discs are for life and not easily destroyed.

    Kitchen tap dripping

Forgive my ignorance, my kitchen tap is dripping and from what I read online, a new washer is most likely needed. I think it's the hot water tap head/disc because when I switch off the hot water supply from underneath the sink the drippage stops. My problem is that I have yet been able to...
