    Lights Blowing

We had a new kitchen last year and the lights are now Halogen downlights. Whenever a bulb goes the all the lights in the house go out, which is apparently down to some kind of surge. The main fuse box is the old type which requires the wire replacing etc. and obviously all the lights are on the...

    Very Noisy Toilet Cistern

I posted a problem last week when my shower was losing pressure when the temp was increased (still not fixed, but bearable for now). Over the last couple of days, when the toilet is flushed and the cistern is refilling, as it nears the end of the fill it starts to make a very loud foghorn...

    Shower Pressure / Temp Problem

Since yesterday, when the shower is switched on, it started running too cold from the setting it has been on. When the temperature is turned up the water gets hotter but the flow of water slows the more you increase it. I realise that this is probably some kind of pressure problem yet...

I've just fitted a new halogen floodlight outside and when I've turned it on and its been on for a minute or 2 smoke starts coming out from the unit. The smoke is coming from the unit where the bulb is, and not from where the wiring is and appears to be possibly from the rubber seal around the...

    FAO Breezer / Anyone

Got myself a new thermostat as per message lower down, taken the old one off and sussed the wiring out etc. It does say with new one that it must be earthed and their is what appears to be an earthing point inside it, though their doesn't appear to be an earth wire in the old one. Am I right...

    Ch Thermostat

Can anyone please tell me how straightforward changing the central heating thermostat is ?? Is it just a case of removing the old one and wiring up a new one the same or is there more to it than that. Thermostat doesn't appear to be reading the temp. correctly and was thinking of replacing...

    CH Problem

CH heating doesn't come on when turned on, but if run hot water from taps etc it will then come on for half an hour or so. Its as though it comes on to replace the hot water used from the taps, though it does heat up the radiators etc as normal, but only remains on for half hour at the most...
