    Window lock, can't identify manufacturer

Thanks ronniecabers, I'll take the photos you ask for. They are old windows, but I'm not sure how old. The keeps on the frame look pritty standard, but the lock rail bars on the openers are not flat bars screwed on as usual or part of the lock. After removing the plates (with the crown on) from...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Sorry I didn't close this issue two years ago when found an excelent soution to my problem. I found exactly the coupler I needed online at BES (see photo attached), I also found I was able to buy fibre washer packs through ebay that gave all the sizes I needed. So with good solid shoulders on...

    Window lock, can't identify manufacturer

Hi All, Just bought a new house that is double glazed. I need to fix one of the widows. One of (only two) of the locking rollers in a bedroom window has sheared off and the top of the window will not close tightly. The problem is, I can't idenify the manufacturer. I've taken it apart but there's...

    Epoxy tile grout, advice

Hi bobasd, Epoxy Grout is waterproof, so I thought would be more suitable for my shower area that is likley to be damp a lot. Being waterproof would make it more resistant to bacteria and less likely to discolour over time.

    Epoxy tile grout, advice

Can anybody help me. I'm tiling a bathroom with a walk in shower using 600 x 600 porcelain tiles; floor & walls. It has mostly plastered walls and a wooden floor therefore I have used tile baker board on the partition walls around the shower, membrane on the solid walls and decoupling membrane...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Hi Madrab, Just a quick note to let you know how I got on... I dismantled the assembly and remade the connections following your advice, no leaks no weeps, I tested it by banging it about a bit and leaving the pressure on for a couple of days, all was OK. It's now completed and the backer board...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Madrab... No, it was plumbers PTFE tape, though I do have gas tape. How many turns with plumbers tape? Is 14 sufficient? My past experience with fibre washers has shown me that nothing seals a connection better, so long as they are trapped between two flanges with PTFE tape, but from your...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Hi just pumps, Yes, I have used the parts you linked to. Also, I'm not sure what your question relates to... have I mentioned a 'system input coupler' somewhere, if so I apologise, it seems to vague a turm to mean anything. Kenn7

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Hi Madrab... To answer your question; Theres is no convient access to the back of the wall. I would be prepared to cut through the bedroom wall in an emergency, but not for the initial assembly. I have since purchased a wall outlet elbow and when I see it I can now see how it work and how to get...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Thanks for the advice... foxhole; I did see the push fit model at Screwfix, but wasn't sure because it got quite a low star rating and because it seemed to be non standard; I would like some future choice. Madrab; I take your point about plenty of PTFE Tape and if it's trial and error I can...

new paving slabs are wobbly (not compacted)

Did you ask for them to be laid dry, or did they advertise themselves as specialising a dry lay? If not it's reasonable to expect cement to have been used; in either case the slabs should be firm. I believe you have a good case for not paying for their labour until the work is completed to an...

Is there a common standard for fitting a shower hose wall outlet

Hi All I'm building a new walk in shower and I'm fitting a lace handled single lever concealed shower mixer valve, and I wanted to bring its output through a simple circular shower wall outlet with a standard hose attachment pointing vertically downward. I will need to fit all internal plumbing...

Problem fitting floor to ceiling bay window

Hi all, I am in the process of building a new, square bay for windows and doors on the rear of my property. It will be floor to ceiling glass about 2.8m wide x 1.5m deep x 2.45m high with a flat roof. The foundation have gone in, but before I build the footing up to floor level, I was hoping...

Induction hob and double oven rating

Hi again. I read your comment on the 50mm sinking of the cables not being allowed by building regs. I originally read this, or possibly missread it, from (Section 4.4 "Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations 17 edition"), the note under figure 4.4 seems to require a depth of 50mm, however...

Induction hob and double oven rating

Thanks for the response. Yes the CU has not long been installed and does include 2 RCDs, it's a British General CUD16610 or IP2XC. The MCB the cooker is on is a B32, (I'm guessing this is a 32A breaker), is this OK for the new hob & oven? There is a spare B40.

Induction hob and double oven rating

Hello there, My existing cooker installation is a New World double oven 5kW, an isolation switch on about 10m of 6mm (I think) cable, plus a gas hob. I plan to buy and install a Neff Induction hob (7.2 kW max rating) and a Neff double oven, (6.8 kW max rating). I'll be installing them in new...
