upvc front door "striker/latch" and fanlight windows

Sometimes this can be sorted by giving it a spray with something like gt85. Do not use wd40. I have had a few occasions where this has happened and not been solved by spray. Both times was with a lockmaster lock. You will see the make on the locking strop normally. If it is a lockmaster, you may...

Old UPVC Fan Window Won't Open

I would try taking the handle off first just to make sure it is not a problem with the spindle. It will also be easier to move the cams with the handle off ************* moderator's note please remove or edit your Signature See 3 and 4...

Old UPVC Fan Window Won't Open

If you can take the glass out it would be easier. If you put an air bag or something to lift the window up slightly (or sideways if it is a side opener) creating a gap so you can see the cams. You can use something like a thin piece of metal to move the cams into the unlocked position. Once open...

    Mulitipoint door lock replacement problem

I didn't think the maco had the screws in the centre of the latch or side of the gearbox? All the ones I have come across so far have had a little clip on the side that you lift to release it. I'm not saying I'm right, it's just from my personal experience

    Mulitipoint door lock replacement problem

When cutting the strip. Put it in the correct position in the door and mark the top and bottom. The inner part of the strip (the bit that moves when you lift the handle will need to be cut shorter as this will stick out when the handle is lifted. Alternatively you could put it in the lock...

    Small UPVC Doors

Sometimes the beeds are back wedged. Which means you put the beeds in first and then put the rubber in in the other side after. If the rubber is loose and comes off easily it is likely to be back wedged

If the bottom handle side is scraping the bottom it sounds like it needs toe and heeling. There are videos on YouTube showing how to do this but if you have any questions I will be happy to help

Key not turning in UPVC door lock - outside only

I agree with gazman16. I would however first try giving it a spray with something like gt85. Do not use wd40 as this may temporarily fix the issue but will cause a build up in the keyway. If that does work you know that it is the cylinder that is causing the issue

    Draughty New Windows

Who ever installed it needs to take it out and do it again. The frame is not sat properly on the call and will cause you problems. It is their responsibility to sort it out. You paid them for a job and they need to do it properly

Screw spinning when fitting new window hinge

If you do put a new screw through the hinge, it is a good idea to countersink it with a 10mm drill bit

Where's the water coming from? (UPVC windows)

You could try taping toilet roll or paper to possible places it could be coming in, if it gets eat then you could have a better idea of the source. Do you get condensation on the window? Does it have drainage holes as I can't see them on the picture?

Where's the water coming from? (UPVC windows)

Have a look to make sure the sash is drained properly. It should be drained at the top and bottom. This allows the water to come through to the drainage in the frame
