Fitting external door to back of brick garage.

Hi all. I have a modern style house with a garage attached to the side and it has a pitched tiled roof. The garage is only one skin of bricks thick but I want a door in the back if the garage to be able to get bbqs e.t.c. out easier in the summer. An external upvc door would fit in the back...

    Insulating between floors.

Hi. I live in a modern three storey house (10 years old). My kitchen is upstairs and I'm starting a refurb of it soon. I want to replace the 22mm chipboard on the floor for 22mm solid wood floorboards. They are fit over an I style joist. Now the problem I have is with regard to sound...

Somebody give me a clue!!! Boiler pressure gauge.

Forgive my naivety (I'm a sparky) I was under the impression that a heating system had to have a certain pressure in the radiators/system etc. If I bleed them I thought they needed topping up?

Somebody give me a clue!!! Boiler pressure gauge.

Hi all. I have what I believe is an unvented heating/water system. The boiler powering this is a Potterton promax He 24/2 the system was fitted in 2008 and I've only lived in the house 2 years. Now the problem I have is where the hell would the pressure gauge be to show me how much pressure is...

    Bath not quite square/tiling.

Hi Im just in the middle of fitting a new bathroom in my house. I have fit the bath but think I maybe have made a mistake. The bath has three walls around it and goes tight into the gap. Now it's all level and siliconed but I have realised that when I have come to start tiling I haven't...

    Speedfit problem.

With regard to using compression iso valves I do believe you have to still use an insert on the plastic pipe which slightly reduces the bore anyway? They seem OK so far. And tbh if I do get any trouble I can get to them anyway. It's the rest of the house I worry about all CH plumbed in plastic...

    Weight of tiles....

Hi. I'm currently doing a bathroom renovation but I'm in need of a bit of advice with tiling. The walls in my bathroom are moisture resistant plasterboard with a plaster skim. I really like some large format tiles I have seen and they are 600 x 300 and 9mm wide. Now I believe that 20kg/m is...

    Speedfit problem.

Hi. I'm currently fitting a bathroom and my house is all plumbed in plastic as it's a new build. Now when I have started to rip out the bathroom I've noticed there are no iso valves on any of the taps. Anyway I've bought some speedfit service valves and used the superseal inserts, now my...

    Baseboard on bath.

Hi. Thanks for that. You are right it does seem to have the board encapsulated! I never would have thought. The manufacturers instructions don't say anything about it and the picture on them show a wooden baseboard on the outside to screw to! Ah well problem solved! Thanks.

    Baseboard on bath.

Hi. I've had a bathroom suite delivered and the bath hasn't got a wooden board stuck underneath the bath to screw the bracket/legs to as per the instructions. Now usually I would contact the supplier to replace but I'm going to start fitting it this weekend so I'm going to just stick a board...
