Well, no one particularly advertises where the products are coming from and if there are any spares etc going to be available in the future, but hey ho - its been purchased now :) and needs fitting. You kindly mention about extending it - I presume the extension would be a female thread and...

Fitting a bath spout - not enough thread!

Hi everyone, hopefully a very simple one but can not get my head around it. I'm mounting a wall mounted bath spout and separate taps, by Hudson reed. http://www.homesupply.co.uk/hudson-reed-topaz-hexagonal-wall-mounted-bath-spout-tap-bc309hx=BC309HX.htm The 3/4" thread on the spout is not...

Ground floor suspended floor joists into solid brick wall

Thanks. Sleeper walls might be an issue as I would have to dig them out right next to the existing wall foundations - or in reality is that not really an issue?

Ground floor suspended floor joists into solid brick wall

Hi Vinn, Its the same room yes, but the option of Limecrete is no longer an option - therefore this post is asking specifically with regards to the suspended timber floor and what peoples opinions would be upon how to attach the joists to it - is there a problem with me posting this separately...

What internal return do I need?

At the back of our Kitchen the return is 280cm wide - we have a small window only at present on this wall, with a door to the side to exit into the garden. (its a two storey wall with a bedroom above it) We are looking to install as wide as possible French windows or bi fold doors into the end...

Ground floor suspended floor joists into solid brick wall

Hi all, So the concrete floor (50mm thick) in the kitchen area of my victorian mid terrace house that is damp needs to come up along with the back fill soil underneath. The whole kitchen area is at least 300mm higher than it should be from previous occupants of the house. The outside has been...

Hi Gerry, just looking for general advise to be honest. We've got a project house, which when we bought it had the original brickwork externally painted over/sealed and also covered in render etc, including the bathstone bay window etc. We've have stone masons in to strip the outside back to the...

How can you tell if you've got breathable pait/lead paint etc in Victorian house?

Hi all, Trying to sort out an old Victorian property, whereby trying to make it breathable again to help with damp etc. Things like concrete walls are obvious to spot, but a lot of the property (upstairs) have original lime plaster walls, with only new bts (like window openings/sockets etc)...

Solid wood flooring, what are my options without raising the height?

No cellar, by crawl space there is probably 200mm-300mm under most of the flooring - so lets say not really! I'm going to take a look at whether or not there is a good way of getting olf floorboards up (non- t&g) in a reliable method to not damage them, then relay them closer together without gaps.

Replacing concrete roof tiles with slate ones

Hi people, I have a Victorian mid-terrace, that shares a ground floor bay window porch with next door. They have nice slate roof tiles, mine are the ugly concrete version. I'm therefore looking at if I could easily replace or swap out the concrete ones I have for slate ones. The 'porch' is...

    Damp on internal party wall

Have your neighbours had a DPC installed on the adjoining wall recently? If so, perhaps the moisture that was coming up at an acceptable level for years is now just coming up your side only - including the 'natural' damp from their side which goes up your side as their DPC pushes it that way?

Hi there, We have an old victorian property whereby the telephone exchange line comes across from the street hooks onto the building just under the eaves and then follows the brickline down the wall, over the bay window canopy and then enters the house through a hole drilled into the wooden...

Solid wood flooring, what are my options without raising the height?

thank you for all the replies. So the option to put plywood underneath is not a valid option, I think I will look and see how much effort it is to take up the boards in one room and reposition. Also, when these boards are lifted, can you put a liner down to stop the draugths for the void...
