    Blocked Loo

Had to rely on the professionals in the end and we were lucky I suppose. He tried plunging. Didn’t budge. Camera up. Then pressure hose. Said it was accumulated paper. Glad to know it wasn’t my half dozen cleaning tissues. I blame son from years ago. Thanks all for you support and tips...

    Blocked Loo

Thanks for tip Hugh. I’ll prepare to be firm. Changed car today, so it’s all been a bit hectic recently.

Yes, we’ve got 3 manholes in a row. Looks lovely by front door!

    Blocked Loo

Wow, that’s an incredible story - that’s the same timescale as us re renovation ( pre our time tho). I’ve never thought about drains being permanently semi-blocked, but still appear to be working. Tbh, it is getting more use now than ever (just liquids). Being in the spare bedroom as I say...

    Blocked Loo

Done that SpecialK. Yes, other outfall runs fine. I’ve been doing this for 4 days. Never been beaten with anything before, so not like me to give in but one for the professionals I think. I reckon it’s been blocked a while back.

    Blocked Loo

Hugh - I have booked.a Franchise, for Saturday, so time to cancel. I asked on our area FB page and no-one suggested anyone. I’m in North Norfolk. Obviously, they did have good reviews!

    Blocked Loo

Do you know Hugh, I’ve just done that. I’ve never been beaten before but there we go. And I’ve a theory. The first flush is always OK. And it’s only used occasionally in the night so nothing much goes down there. How many times do you go to the loo, flush, and that’s it - walk away. So...

    Blocked Loo

Hosepipe trick downwards hasn’t worked. Will give it one more go. Obviously haven’t got enough pressure. Have stuck another hosepipe up as far as I can go, probably 6ft which takes me to the bend I would say. A plumber would be able to get to the pipe work I imagine, there is a hatch in a...

    Blocked Loo

Thanks for reminding me re shower. only trouble with sticking something up from below is that there are 2 loos outfalling into that, so chances are my rod will go up the one that’s not blocked. But I’ll give it a go - got to potentially reach first storey.

    Blocked Loo

Shower also uses same outfall but shower is never used - occasionally I have to put water in trap as dried out and pongs.

    Blocked Loo

2 kettles of very hot water from great height went in beautifully, no backup. Flushed away perfectly too. 2nd flush backs up. Outfall in inspection hatch is a trickle. Outfall joins another loo somewhere back up the line. That loo is perfect. Don’t know anything about Air Admittance...

    Blocked Loo

Anyone any amazing ideas? Loo in spare room. Only used occasionally at night. Only liquids ever go down and a piece or two of paper. Decided to clean it - put quite a bit of loo paper around bowl rim soaked in vinegar to get rid of limescale. After say 12 hours, flushed it away and cleaned...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Harry - is it whisky or a beer? You are a total saint and star and have saved me a fortune. Also to Mattylad too who told me to replace the element. I cannot thank you enough. And such an easy job. Sadly, the inline valve started leaking - such a long story, ended up having to replace that...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Don’t think I’ll be buying Calgon afterall.

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Thanks Magicmushrooms - yes, there is a locating cradle. Tested the old, element with multimeter - it reads 0.4, so basically, nothing. I read that it should be 25-40 ish. We used to use HG stuff on stainless steel. Really good. Have bought some eSpares cleaner / limescale remover which has...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

OM Goodness. Unbelievable. And the scary thing is - this would happen exactly the same if I’d bought a £200 machine or a £1500 Miele. I need to become an advocate for Calgon or whoever. We have a Scaleout fitted, living in a very hard water area, which stops limescale, so I thought I...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Wow Harry, that’s amazing. Yes, that’s exactly it. I’d just been fiddling around with it and only just now seen your post - and the video too. Fabulous. When I pulled off the 2nd from left connector a whole lot of water came out which has disappeared into the bowels of the machine so I hope...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Oh! That’s really interesting, thank you both. So it probably didn’t heat up - didn’t notice as the load that was in when it started smoking had only just gone in anyway. I was a bit concerned that the thing that that ‘solenoid’ (?) pushes into would be damaged internally too - I can’t get...

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

Hi - I have a 5 year old machine. It has issues, but it was still going. During the morning there was a massive 'crash' in my house - like a metal tray being dropped. Couldnt trace the source. A couple of hours and a couple of washes later in the day, I suddenly detected smoke coming out of...

    Sealing New Render

Yes, it’s just a short stretch, about 25 ft say, single storey on one south facing wall. Wasn’t sunny hot when done, so not in direct sun when drying out.
