I bought various 3” screws today and all the heads are too big to fit on the sawtooth, what is it about these that make a difference is it the decorative part which means it can just rest but look fine? Sorry if it’s a stupid question

Stud, I was aiming to put a screw into the wall but none fit neatly in the sawtooth. I’m a complete nervous newbie on diy but I want to do it. Gonna start using this forum much more

So I bought this mirror ages ago from Oak furniture land, https://www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk/furniture/skylar-metal-wall-mirror-black/31641.html. I have a new build with plaster board thin walls. The picture has two iron built in sawtooth hangers which you can sort of make out from this photo...

It is just plastic but it has covers so it fits nicely. Will it not ruin that if I make the hole bigger. Gonna have a go today.

That will do even if I have gone 100mm through the block? How does it push through to fill out the hole? Or do i only need to fill the plaster board hole for appearance? Thanks for the help

Yep, definitely not my bag this. Drilled a couple of mm to the left of where I need to be. Wouldn't even fit on if the fixing had gone in nicely. WTF do I do now other than cry/laugh/give up.

So I messed up with the hammer fixings. Fair enough. Lesson learned. Since I started I thought I may as well do the second hole the same since whilst overkill people said it would be fine... Hole went through a treat, no issue. Put the plug in, start screwing the screw in and as its bearing...
