    Leaking toilet inlet isolator valve

I think Ive just fixed it, although not entirly confident of how long it will stay fixed. I think its the nut where the pipe goes into the cistern (Ive put arrow to it) I cant get a spanner on it, so I tried tightening using my fingers. Of course, I turned it the wrong way, so what little...

    Leaking toilet inlet isolator valve

Its a really awkward angle. Ive put my phone on selfie mode and stuck it under the cistern to see where the inlet pipe goes. If I can get a spanner on it, is it worth trying to tighten that bolt?

    Leaking toilet inlet isolator valve

Ugh, ignore that, the dripping has started again, and its definitely coming from above. Whats the next step? Try and get a spanner to tighten where the inlet pipe goes into the cistern?

    Leaking toilet inlet isolator valve

I initially thought the water was coming out of here: I turned the isolater valve off, but it was still dripping. I flushed the toilet to clear the cistern of water.. and the dripping stopped. So yes, good point, l suspect its the fill valve. However, after reading your post about whether...

    Leaking toilet inlet isolator valve

Hi all, Ive noticed water emerging from the bottom of the front of the toilet base. Looks like the water isolator vale is leaking. Consistent drips are coming from it. Ive turned the isolator valve to the off position (after I took the below photos), but its still dripping, just not as much...

How to fix a door that doesnt open fully!?

Well spotted on the skirting, I hadnt noticed that! At the point he put the skirting on it probably dawned on him hed made a mistake, so left the skirting off to minimise the effect! But its still not right, obviously. I like your 3rd option. Ill pose this to him. The pillar is for support. I...

How to fix a door that doesnt open fully!?

Thanks guys. This is a side porch (which, because of the house situation, is used as the main entrance). Ive yet to pay the builder the final invoice. (He's yet to finish the sagging list). Would it be unreasonable for me to say Im not happy with this? In other words, should it be expected...

How to fix a door that doesnt open fully!?

Hi, Ive just had a new porch constructed. I was expecting the door to open fully, or at least >110 degrees. But the door only open maybe 85 degrees as the wall is preventing it to be opened fully. Ive take a video hopefully showing the issue...

How to remove this protective plastic from window frame?

I thought they would have removed the plastic before putting the windows together. I mean, why wouldnt you? Is it straightforward for them to remove the internal beading? Good idea about using a stanley knife, and I tried similar, but becuase its a white frame, it still shows,

How to remove this protective plastic from window frame?

Hi all, Ive had these new windows installed. I noticed this blue plastic. I thought it would be a simple case of pulling it off, but it seems to be within the frame! Its a devil of a job to try and remove. Is there a special technique to do it? Should the installers have removed the plastic...

How best to fill gap between wall and fascia board?

Great, so all those things can be fitted after the fact? I thought they would need to be fitted before rendering. (again, Im a not a builder, so dont know about these things ;P )

How best to fill gap between wall and fascia board?

Hi, Ive had a new porch built. Im just compiling a snagging list for the builder. I noticed theres a 2 inch gap into the roof void between the external wall and the fascia board. I would have expected some insect mesh to be there, or to be no gap at all. (Im speaking as a non-builder! I...

How urgent is this render job on chimney?

Hmm, you may be right! If so thats potentially saved me a lot of money thanks! Can I ask: what would make the paint adhere to the chimeny better? Do people use PVA glue or something (I heard this was a thing). Or what would the best brand/type of textured paint be? I just dont want to have the...
