    Thstnks for clarifying. When plugged in as per my picture the potential across that resistor is around 120v but i wasmt sure if that was for the timer circuit. I could probably open the motor casing to see if theres any voltage marks to clarify its design.

    I did try adjusting the timer and nothing happened. The more i think of it the more I'd like to remove the pcb altogether, if its safe to do so of course. I noticed that large resistor getting very hot when i turned power on and i dont like the thoughts of it wasting energy for no reason. But...

    I have indeed. It was a bit uneven but not too bad. I levelled it a bit with sharp sand and whacked ot again before putting down my sand base layer. I'm laying slabs now so i hope to feck all the hard work pays off. Thanks for your reply
