Cutting and laying travertine fireplace tiles

I've got a fireplace to lay with travertine tiles. Do they need a diamond wet tile cutter? What's the best adhesive/grout for a travertine fireplace? The tiles need to be sealed too, don't they (Lithofin?)?

Are there any decent, effective DIY products for resurfacing enamel baths? Used some Cillit Bang  on mine and it's taken some of the enamel surface off.

    Getting tile adhesive off flooring

I've got some Bal gold star tile adhesive stuck on some amtico flooring. Any tips on how to get it off please? I've scraped the worst of it off but there are still traces left in the grain of the surface. The tip of a stanley blade has some effect but it's very slow work and I don't want to...

    Re-grouting?

Hi, My mum's shower cubicle has a leak and the plumber who fitted it reckons that the water's coming through the tiling rather than from the plumbing. Would regrouting and re-siliconing be enough to stop this, do you reckon? If so, is it best to hack out the old grout and sealant before...

Using tub adhesives / grout lines

I've got to use some ready-mixed adhesive/grout tomorrow for the first time. Anything I should bear in mind? I've only used cement-based adhesives and separate grout before. Also, is it possible/advisable to tile without grout lines? The tiles have been picked to match the kitchen work...

    Pad or Roller?

I seem to be the only person I know who prefers using pads to rollers for painting walls. I just think they're quicker to use and give a better finish. What are the pros and cons of each? Have I just been using crap rollers? If so, what is the best type?

    Tiling - Wall Adhesive

I read somewhere that you shouldn't use powder adhesives on plastered walls. Does that mean you have to use a ready-mix? If so, any recommendations? And who are the best tiling suppliers - Topps Tiles?
