    Ade Compact Locked Out

Hi. I accidently cut through the bell wire on my alarm system and now, after repairing, the panel has locked me out. The bell sounder wont stop regardless of what I do so I've removed the +ve from the terminal. When I power up the panel the tamper flashes. Putting in the user code and reset...

    Unable to find drains

The kitchen is on a 'float foundation' so I'm not sure if I'm able to cut into the concrete without compromising the structural integrity?

    Unable to find drains

Thanks for all the replies. Bit gutted actually but not surprised. The builder was experienced and he couldn't find it after 3 weeks of looking for it (although we did have an outside grid that he smashed and concreted over so not a lot of sympathy!). I don't think there is a problem with...

    Unable to find drains

Thanks. There's no downstairs toilet and its the kitchen drain that is the problem. The kitchen and extension are on reinforced concrete bases so no possibility of routing under there. The neighbour was there when the house was originally built and told me that the drain collapsed so they had...

    Unable to find drains

Thanks for the replies. That's the purpose of my question really, just fact finding before it all goes official. We have been warned before by the environment agency about an earlier kitchen extension going into the river. Part of the reason for the new extension was to rectify this and now...

    Unable to find drains

Apologies if this is the wrong sub-forum but I'm not sure where's best to post this. We had an extension built a few years ago and the builder had a huge problem finding the sewer pipe to go into for the kitchen waste. I have now found out that he ended up going into the surface water drain...

    Boiler misbehaving

Thanks. I was thinking it could be the PCB because of the erratic nature of the problem. It came on fine again this morning, had a shower, went to work, 1 hour later the wife started running a bath and the system locks out. She switched the boiler off and went out for the day. Came back this...

    Boiler misbehaving

Hi. I'm having problems with my Halstead Finest Platinum boiler. The system can run fine for a few hours then shuts down into fault mode. This can be for no apparent reason or sometimes when there is a call for hot water. The boiler diagnostics show a water pressure fault. Once the system...

Drylining porch wall - 50mm to work with!

I want to neaten up my porch, plaster and paint the walls, etc. The external wall is just single skin brick. The side wall is double skin (no cavity) brick to a garage conversion. I am not too bothered about thermally insulating the porch but don't want any plaster I put on, getting...

Easier solution to fitting external EV

Thanks Gasman (and everyone who has commented). Not too sure about removing the schraeder valve (it's a bit fiddly behind there and I'm sure to drop it!) so I'll probably use an old bike pump and cut off the valve end.

Easier solution to fitting external EV

Well, when i press the valve a flood of water not too dissimilar to an open tap gushes out half way up to the ceiling. Far too much to be condensation. I'm ok at cutting and soldering but it seems a much simpler job to simply add a braided pipe and do the job in 10 minutes (although I...

Easier solution to fitting external EV

No definitely gone. Water gushes out when the valve is pressed. I was actually wondering if the rubber seal in the EV was actually necessary given that the EV is the highest point in the system so any air should naturally collect there.

Easier solution to fitting external EV

I'm in the process of fitting a new external EV on my Halstead Finest Platinum. I noticed that the existing EV is connected via a braided pipe and figured that the easiest way to do this job would be to simply connect the new EV using a similar pipe. The pipe would need to be about 1m long to...

Is this an acceptable way to fit lead flashing?

Thanks for the replies folks. Could you elaborate please on I'm expecting a dispute with my builder over this and don't want to be told by him that a squirt of mastic will do. Thanks.

Is this an acceptable way to fit lead flashing?

Hi. My roof is leaking quite badly and I suspect the culprit is the flashing. The roof was completed about 3 months ago and no problems up until now. Is this an acceptable way to fit lead flashing on a pitched roof? I would have thought it would need to be stepped. Thanks[/img]
